Hi there,
Trust me I Never thought that turning on the Narrator would make me sweat and restart my
lumia 720 numerous times. If you have got stuck and nothing seems to be working then try the following steps may be it can help because this worked for me.
Please Note :- The following steps are for wp 8.1 with CORTANA installed.
1. Hold the volume down button + Power Button until the phone switches itself off.
2. After the phone starts back up quickly unlock the phone and get to the main screen and wait for the narrator to start (10-15 secs approx).
3. Once the narrator is back up click on the magnifier (search Key) button on your Windows phone. Double click on it if the Narrator says so.
4. This would bring up the life saver CORTANA.
5. Double click on the micro phone.
6. Ask CORTANA to open "Ease of Access"
7. Toggle Narrator Off

AND Bingo your phone will be back to Life....

Don't Say Thanks if this helps... Help someone Else.

CHEERS  Ferokzz

re:

To unlock your phone you will have to press the number once to highlight it and then double tap to enter it in... Be sure you Don't double tap a number that's Not highlighted. For example if u double tap a 1 with the 2 still highlighted, a 2 will be entered even tho u pressed 1.

Hold the "Volume Up" button and then tap the "Start/Windows" button. This will
disable narrator. In narrator mode, you have to double tap on everything to make it work, which is why it looks like it's being unresponsive.

Wow.....I was going crazy with this narrator trying to switch it off....I didn't think it would be such a pain the rear trying to switch it off. Thanks so much.

I thank you, and my momma thank you to, but she's dead (Eduard Delacroix - Green Mile) . . . this issue has had me ready to take a sledge hammer to my Nokia Lumia. I still don't understand how this function would work for the sight impaired??? It would read my incoming texts, but I couldn't access anything, especially with a lock screen pic and a password. I had the same Nokia model and the same function just announced my incoming texts and calls, that's all I wanted this one to do. I knew I was screwed as soon as I saw the yellow boundary line around my screen. It took several hours of searching using every keyword I could think of to describe this issue. I even found one site that I thought was Nokia Tech. Support that wanted $18 to solve my issue . . . jeez:angry: I guess I'm a "happy camper," well, at least until the next technical issue arises.
