USB Device Not Recognized 635

This is (was) 635 gophone, I performed the unbranding thread and successfully comepleted all steps. The phone now is (RM-975_1043 000-US).

I wanted to go to new build of W10M but at the time, 10/2015 or so, I couldn't for some reason I do not recall, I think I would have had to revert to 8.1 first but as stated in the unbranding thread, WPRT wouldn't work. Well since then I was able to go to the newest build, currently Ver 1500 build 10586.107, I now have a new problem and cannot connect to my W10 pc, the pc displays "USB device not recognized" and the phone displays "Device is charging slowly".

Anybody run into this? Very little info in a search, I found one but it was not helpful. The WPRT will read firmware # when I go "my device not recognized" path and put it in bootloader? with volume down & power buttons pressed at the same time. It fails eventually though.

Why not flash your phone using Nokia Product Support Tool for Store as mentioned in the tutorial? There are other ways but you'll to explore, try flashing your phone with thor2 (lookup xda for instructions). You can also try the fiddler method to reflash the firmware using WDRT and a little bit of http request edits to download the US unbranded firmware and flash it.

I have tried the Lumia Product Support Tool and Nokia, and Nokia Software Recovery Tool, Last fall they connected to phone but would not support it or something, today it just stays of the "connect device" screen and does not see the phone.

I'll try to find a ROM to download and try and figure out the thor2 way, but I expect if the PC doesn't recognize the USB device thor2 won't either.

You'll have to connect the phone in flashing mode (the thunderbolt sign) and the PC should be able to recognize it.

Got it, found a ROM and how to enter flash mode and viola! USB works, back to 8.1 but thats ok.

Funny, I found a ROM that was unbranded NAM US, 4R CV, it has Cortana in 8.1, interesting.

Well that was the ROM you flashed or debranded to begin with. Glad you found it though.

Can you point me in the right direction on how you solved this exactly. I'm having the same issue with my Lumia 830. Just stopped connecting to computer in the last couple of weeks.

There is a sticky in the 920 forums with a video and instructions to perform a dead flash using Nokia Product Support Tool.
