Yes and no!

My 640XL is on the insider, so it's already on .164.
On the 930 had to run the app like you, but after it said I could get W10 it started the update. If you check update in Settings, doesn't it does an update? IIRC it updated to .107 first.

Well, I've been waiting for official release, no matter how lame it may sound, so I'm not in Insider program .
I received some update, pointed by UA app but that still just atop Win 8.1 and it was meant to allow me for updating to Win 10 Mobile...but I still haven't got the actual Win 10 update.
The UA message doesn't make much sense anyway: the carrier is irrelevant in my case (phone is unlocked, bought in Argos) and manufacturer...is native to the OS (both the device AND software are Microsoft). I'm really disappointed, looks like I'll be waiting longer than someone who's got Blu or 2yo low-end Lumia :/

I did a reset installed Upgrade Advisor got 10.010586.71 which updated to 10.0.10586.164. All previous Apps were installed and updated. Added the Air Watch from the new store which solved the Corporate email connection. This 930 is running so smooth and I am really impressed with W10 on the phone. I'm loving all aspects and yet to come across any issues thus far now that I have the correct build .164.

I also got .71 at first. Looked quite good already, but I updated to .164 afterwards. Never did any hard reset. Just smooth on my 730.

Just reporting in for reference. I have a Lumia 1520 on AT&T, and the upgrade advisor says that while my phone is eligible for the upgrade, Microsoft is working with both AT&T and Nokia to get the upgrade out.

Just makes me miss the days when we could force-update our Windows Phones to WP 7.8. Fun times. Oh man remember the Zune software and how it worked so well for syncing all media?!?!

Where were you getting the photos from before the update? 90% of the photos for my contacts are from facebook. I don't get photos until I log into facebook and let the contacts sync

Can someone experiencing the issue where the phone is eligible for windows 10 mobile but the carrier is working on approving the update try the below:

"Can someone try this scenario: t mobile/at&t Lumia 640 on windows phone 8.1 (denim). Download windows insider and join the release preview ring (this process took my at&t lumia 830 to windows 10 10586.107. As soon as update is complete switch to the production ring on the insider app. Now go to settings>update & security>phone update and see if that produces the 10586.168 build."
