WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

The morning after feels so different. It should of course but I didn't realize how much it does.
Not one of the ones to immediately hop to the next so I don't know.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Yeah the work travel is getting nuts.
Off to Dallas on Monday and then to Salt Lake City on Tuesday.

I still have one trip to Michigan and Boston left.
At least one trip to Costa Rica and 90% sure a trip to India as well.

And we're thinking of going to Australia for December.

Wow! I'm amazed that you keep your head on and the timezones straight with the places you go and how frequent you do.

Practice.
But after 20 years it's getting old.
And I am getting old and grumpy as well.
So...

Too much of the circle jerk happening where I'm at. I could go back to my old department, but am not in the mood for that instability either. Sigh. Just have to keep the ears open and eye on the lookout.

My suspicions suggest that someone got kicked to the curb and there's a replacement on deck...

...need to get my pita chips here to decipher this conundrum.

You're right basically, but not about the replacement. I need time to heal.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

So I'm retiring the venerable Z3TC after many years of abuse (4+). Looking forward to its replacement. My 5 year old T100 is going along just fine, so no replacement needed there.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Take the time you need. I've taken a year off once.

Thank you. I can believe that. Is it dumb that this feels different even though it was shorter? I guess the connection was that legit for me. Sigh.

That's a long time to use a device! Looking forward to hearing about how the replacement is going for you.

Whenever people experience a "legitimate connection", how it's measured by length in time is always tricky. You're allowed to feel what you feel as those are your feelings.

Still, it's important to take the time you need to process the experience. Pull from it what's important and move forward.

It is. 99 helped me get it back in the days when it is was MUCH easier to try emerging tech as an enthusiast. I always told him that he sold more 822s than Verizon did.

I'm hopeful I get that much service time from the Z3TC's successor - the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 8.0. I plan to leave it in Chinese MIUI beta, so I should get weekly tweaks and super extended support as I did on the Mi Note 2.

I'll miss the water resistance though. I cooked many a dish with it smeared with grease and other bits while reviewing the recipes online. It won't get thrown out: just comfortably put away. I've put too much junk on it now, so retirement is likely best.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I really wish I was able to have gotten that mint condition green XZ2. Would have made a great intermezzo until I could land that Jade green Mi Mix 3. Looks like I was wrong where you can just use the main cam without sliding the selfie cam open. Looks like the only thing for me it's missing is the water resistance (3.5mm disappeared from the Mi 6, so I cannot cry too much there).

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

So I'm looking at this guy's XS on the train and saying to myself how much I'll never understand the fruit stand fascination. Is it a nice device? Sure. It is for me? Of course not.

It's even about the notches or the fact that it's the first colored iPhones since the 5C days. Guess I'm not a fan of what the status symbol of fruit stand life represents.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

(Don't mind me channeling my inner Sahib for a moment)

So I was looking at the Skagen Falster OG. What a gorgeous design (like the Movado) with such horrid battery life. For $200, is run you out on a rail. For $100, now you've got my ear. It would look really good (emphasis on LOOKS here) with a black (or mint green) XZ2, a black V35, a black Porsche device. I think I'll keep an eye out and pick up one.

I'd love to get the Movado but that's too pricey for a similar experience as the Skagen and I don't think you can swap the bands. Seems like I'm getting an affinity for 20mm watches (Moto 360 42mm, Huawei watch 2, Galaxy Sport, Skagen Falster). Hey, it makes switching the bands easier and I can keep using those lovely ones I bought from my Moto 360 days.

Now, if I can find another 22mm watch (Huawei watch 2 classic, S3 Frontier), I'll be good.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

Train etiquette here in NYC is hilarious. Now, i pulled my share of "whole ***" moves too; still, whenever I see a real **** move all I can do is shake my head. Some people just don't give two F's. Guess when privilege allows it to be OK for some of us to not have to care (see Mr. Dolt), we shouldn't be surprised in how some of us act.

Re: WC 150K Post Challenge - You Ready?!

I saw an ntelligent roasting of the Pixel 3 on YouTube (see below). I agree with the concept (not all points raised): Google's iPhone-ing the OS and the Pixel hardware is matching nicely to it. As much as I respect the Pixel cameras, the Pixel experience is dry. I even prefer Andy's phone over it, and that **** is barebones.

I think why I liked Andy's experience was it was so barebones it was customizable. You could convert that phone to MSFT services almost 100%. Lot more Google stuff wasn't installed. Once it got to enough devs you could Xposed it and rock on out. Or if you wanted to use it is as, you install all the Gapps you wanted.

The problem I have with the Pixel is that for what Google is charging (the point of this guy's video), the value for money doesn't add up. It's clear they're targeting, I just don't agree with charging that price for finally offering 3 full years of OS support and a top 3 point and shoot camera on a phone as your two biggest features.

On a software level Google is forcing so much white into their Material design it feels like eating Wonderbread. I feel a lot more of the Pixel experience is being leaked into Android and I don't think that's a good thing.

$1000 for a Pixel? Which has always had a QC issue (OG Pixel = lens flare, Pixel 2 XL = display, Pixel 3 = video audio - see Google's response on this).

$1000 for a Pixel? C'mon man!

So much phone and tech talk...

I know... Fillers...

I was going to have a small whinge but nothing to do with phones or tech.
