WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

My generation treated the worlds oldest profession differently. We had the Ostrich syndrome and tried to ignore it. Open eyes and minds are a much better way to accept what is surely happening every second of every day on this planet. As I have been through two marriages where sex has been used as a treat for being a good little boy, trading goods for services makes much more sense.
I agree that it does, given that experience. The problem is that some people on both sides get uncomfortable with a transactional arrangement being solely transactional after a while.

Think I'm going to catch up with some postings this weekend. I'm also supposed to do an in house training on Wednesday that I've been so busy to work on. It's about burnout.

Today, my teacher cut class short. I'm really looking forward to this class! I realized that I had a classmate from my summer class here. I told him as much.

When walking out, we had a conversation about being a visible minority, which we both are in this class.

I'm kinda saddened that we had no introduction of ourselves as a class, so I'll have to ask his career goals.

I'm going to take moment out the talk on relationships and 'sugaring' and instead talk about music.

I typically like to listen to whole albums. I don't know why this is but it's something I've done since I was a teenager. I've always wanted to hear more than what's popular.

Now of course doing this you typically run into that 'one' song that you wonder why it was even put on the album. Sometimes there could be two of those. Other times it can be the whole rest of the album other than that one song that's popular but I think that's rare.

I've also enjoyed listening to entire albums, rather than just songs, but that's because I grew up listening to LPs and still listen to LPs at home.

Though I did listen to vinyl when younger I think my listening to whole albums was based on cassettes. I just couldn't be bothered fast forwarding and rewinding. Never had one of those good decks that could find the next song.

CD and digital music changed things a lot though. It's a lot easier to just get the songs you like.

When I'm streaming music in my car, I still prefer to stream albums, rather than individual songs, since that's the way I am used to listening to music.

Need to do something different.

The last few months at work has been stressful, not from the work itself with clients. There's just been too much programmatic excrement to wade through. There are a few clients I'd really like to stabilize and then I'll focus on transitioning.

My wife went through something similar before she decided to go solo. She just felt that she couldn't help people the way she wanted to within the systems she was working in. She's a lot happier now and is still transitioning to other things. It's a journey.

The Heavy - The House that Dirt Built
The Budos Band - The Budos Band III

Get back to me on these, if you'd like to check them out.

So I like The Heavy. I'm pretty sure I've heard their music before on the UK radio I listen to. I don't play games or watch many TV shows so wouldn't have picked it up there. I'll check out all their albums.

I do like The Budos Band but this is more like music I'd have playing in the background at a dinner party or while doing something at home. It's not work music for me.

I'm currently checking out the new Tool album. Don't have much of an opinion yet. May take a few times. It's not really hitting the right feel for me currently.

If you wish to listen, it's on a podcast named heavy topics with lightweights. The episode is called, get the money upfront or something like that.

So I listened to the podcast.

On the whole it was ok but to me it really skimmed the surface and didn't dig too deep. I've seen better documentaries on this.

I wasn't too impressed with her being against the idea of decriminalization simply because it would drop her prices due to competition. I don't think that is a true statement. Her particular industry doesn't and won't have the same issues as the porn industry did with Pornhub. If anything 'sugaring' would be their biggest competition. Then if some mobile app came out to 'disrupt' the industry but we're a long way off that in the USA.

Though legalizing prostitution has it's bad points I think the good outweighs the bad. So long as it's properly regulated, etc.

The arguments against this is typically religious, as it's 'sinful'. The other is parents complaining that they don't want their daughters becoming 'prostitutes' if it's seen as a career option. Yeah like many girls will just jump on that bandwagon...

As for the police mentality I think their attitude is completely ridiculous. The raids and all that is such a waste of resources and money.

Maybe one day the USA will stop being prudish but then, they've been at this for several centuries now... might take a few more but then that's if humans are still around...

I'm a long way from being able to do that. In time, that may happen. I have a few ideas.

If there were healthier attitudes around sex, it would make it easier to address issues such as this...

Thank you for listening to it and sharing your thoughts. I agree with you. It was interesting to me to hear from someone who is actually doing this. And then the fact that she is in a long term relationship, was another interesting layer.

I think you're right, we'll see. I was surprised to hear about the raid.

Wish I could have work music...got a phone glued to my ear half the time...

If you're at all interested there's two really good podcast series by Jon Ronson on the porn industry.

One is called The Butterfly Effect - Pornhub's disruption of the porn industry and it's consequences
The other is Last Days of August - A Porn Star tragedy story

I'll see if I can find something better on prostitution if you like. I'm sure there's something out there.

Yes I agree totally. The USA has some really messed up attitude to sex in general and still have a major issue with a women's sexuality.

Most of it is political power and religious power in the USA. It's a lot of the 'do as I say not as I do' thing.

I'm a long way from being able to do that. In time, that may happen. I have a few ideas.

It took some time for her to get to where she is now and she was doing very well until Brexit happened in the UK. It's been a rough 2 years for her but it's getting a bit better. Though now with the current mess we don't know. Which is why she's concentrating on changing things.

She still has her sights set on a PhD but plans to do some other things first. She also has plans for a podcast and once that happens I'll let you know.

Luckily I'm able to work and help us maintain some semblance of a lifestyle and we can get our house project back on track.

Thank you! I'll check these out. As long as it's not graphic, it's good to go for me.
