WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

It took some time for her to get to where she is now and she was doing very well until Brexit happened in the UK. It's been a rough 2 years for her but it's getting a bit better. Though now with the current mess we don't know. Which is why she's concentrating on changing things.

She still has her sights set on a PhD but plans to do some other things first. She also has plans for a podcast and once that happens I'll let you know.

Luckily I'm able to work and help us maintain some semblance of a lifestyle and we can get our house project back on track.
I wanted to do that in the next 6 years, but it may have to wait.

Thank you! I'll check these out. As long as it's not graphic, it's good to go for me.

It's not graphic at all aside from some swearing (which I'm guessing doesn't bother you going by the podcast you recommended) and the occasional sounds. But it's not about that aspect. Go with an open mind.

They're both interesting but I found The Butterfly Effect the more interesting of the two. Jon Ronson is a great narrator and story teller.

My wife finished her Masters in 2009. She's been wanting to do a PhD pretty much since then. She's still working on what question and angle she wants to approach things from. It's changed a bit over time and her interest in positive psychology is making her look more that direction.

Mhmm. I can handle that. That's great to know, thank you.

Trust me I wouldn't tell you about them if I thought they were overtly graphic. They're very good podcasts and have a lot of interesting directions in them. The stories aren't linear. Jon Ronson lets the story happen and see where it takes him.

These are high quality podcasts. You may not know Jon Ronson but he's a well respected author and journalist. You may have heard of one of his books - The Psychopath Test or one of his movies - The Men Who Stare at Goats

The Butter Fly Effect is a book turned into a podcast or vice versa.

Ah I'm very curious since you mentioned that it is this way. Unfortunately, the Butterfly Effect isn't available for me (maybe because I don't have Audible) but the other one is so I'll listen.

You're right, I'm not very familiar with him.

I've got an idea of how to answer that question. It's just the route to go and do this is the trick to figure.

If you have Spotify it's there. Also try googling.

I did Google it and that was how I found that I don't have access to it, but I'll explore. I'll check Spotify to see if I can listen to it there.

Edit: Found it. It's been merged with the Last Days of August podcast. Google had to solve that for me to understand I'll listen to all of it then.

It's interesting the wide range of views on commercial sex work. Mine has always been that the sore points for me is the deeply exploitative nature of this industry.

It's never been some of those idyllic individualistic choice situations where workers have ful autonomy. Nor is it merely those fully controlling exploitation of kids. These are merely different points on the same continuum. Not sure if legalizing commercial sex work will help based on the current cultural contrary ideas surrounding sex.

Cool.

Listen to the butterfly effect first through.

Yes I agree totally. The USA has some really messed up attitude to sex in general and still have a major issue with a women's sexuality.

Most of it is political power and religious power in the USA. It's a lot of the 'do as I say not as I do' thing.

Political power and religious power are one and the same. To wit: the Evangelicals in this country have been disgustingly silent about their “messiah” Lord Cheetoh and his philandering, lying ways. Oh but that tan suit Obama wore, rack him!!

Obama's birth certificate wasn't up to snuff for those folks, that's why...

Thank you for sharing this, I believe that 5 is. I didn't even consider this, but it makes a lot of sense. I didn't know some of this though.
There's still much misconception and disrespect surrounding the discipline I'm trained in.
