WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

We were in Paris yesterday visiting some friends and they have offered us their apartment over the Xmas period. This is from the 20th to the 1st of Jan. I'm off work during this time regardless what happens with my job.

So that was nice of them. It will save us some money. If I get this new job it puts us closer to there as well so easier to look for places.

Now we just need a temporary living place between the 10th and the 20th... Yeah it's a big complicated mess!

So today I'm waiting to find out when this interview is going to happen. I'm hoping tomorrow as I want to know as soon as possible about the prospect of getting this position. It will give us some direction of where to look for a place to live...
Good luck with the interview and its timing. I hope you'll be able to sort both the job and residence issues smoothly.

The job is not an issue... finding a place to live... not so smooth I think but who knows? We may get lucky once things are sorted one way or the other.

As for timing, it's both good and bad. This time of year is not the best for finding a place to live.

I hope that things in this area will be sorted out for you as well. I'm glad y'all have a place to live for some of the time but hopefully that will resolve.

Ran into someone who inspired me with all of the ways they are taking opportunities and coming out of their shell. Really excited for them! It actually lifted my mood to hear this.

V40 life has been OK. Still, if I were to be brutally honest, I wish it was the Korean V50 instead. Heard I can still get LTE on it and the bigger battery is welcomed.

Been too distracted with offline to push for a new device.

So I'm waiting on the above ground platform for MTA's finest to get to work. I spot a line of people with their shopping carts and the thought comes to mind: there's a nearby church and it may be pantry hours before Thanksgiving.

There are 10 million churches where I am now. Not surprising for a ton of reasons I'm too tired to get into. Pantry hours I know are mapped out. Many of the pantries are struggling to keep up with increased demand and lower donations.

There's been more action on the old idea of cutting supplemental nutrition assistance program funding - the new term for food stamps. I got clients based on income are getting $17, $15, $20 a month in food stamps. Let that sink in, as I'm in one of the states with the more robust social support services in the Union. How cuts like this work is they adjust the qualifiers for income and make them lower, so the "deserving poor" qualify. Income qualifiers have to be followed so closely that they rather cut you off first before giving you the proper opportunity to submit documents on any income changes.

There's a client I'm working with who is battling some serious anxiety based on how his health has kept him from temporarily out of work. His food access is unstable, his roof over his head is unstable. It's been a brutal 18 months.

Can you imagine having no food on Thanksgiving in your house because you lack the means to get it?

Don't let the fat cats in DC and fat tio fool you: country's in worse shape than I have ever seen amongst the poor and working folks.

In the so called 'land of the free' where nothing in life is 'free'.

Unfortunately there are too many people listening to millionaires and billionaires hoping to one day be them and not really thinking beyond that.

The US is too full of people who believe that "I'm alright, don't know why you have a problem". Unfortunately, that ideology is spreading and has been for some time.

They just don't realise that it will be too late to do anything once they DO have a problem.

I'll never understand the USA and those who praise it.

It's just about how to hustle whatever system one has to deal with. Rich hustle the system to not pay taxes. Government hustles the voters not to beef up the social services. Poor hustle the system to get what they can from social services. The young hustle their bodies to get ahead in a young centric culture. The old hustle he young with reluctance to share acquired wealth and knowledge and true decision making power. The US hustled the Brits for independence because the rich hustled the system to not pay taxes.

See the pattern yet?

I do understand all that. The US believes taxes is a dirty word and the mentality has been spreading around the world. The rich avoid taxes like the plague as if they deserve some special privilege.

There's nothing wrong with taxes so long as it benefits those who pay them. Unfortunately we never really know where tax dollars go.

If we all did what the rich do and pay virtually no taxes we'd have anarchy in no time and even worse crumbling infrastructure.

Unfortunately no one gets that.

That's without even talking about healthcare and social services.

The whole point of lack of both healthcare and social services in the US is to keep the citizens paranoid and worried so the government can do what they want and they've brainwashed enough people to make them believe that having those things for free or low cost is inherently bad.

That's why I could never live in the US. I couldn't deal with that mentality.

The UK will soon learn though...

It's hard to walk back nearly 300 years of this mentality.

So interview on Thursday. I was hoping earlier in the week.

I'd say beggars can't be choosers but I'm wasn't begging in the first place.
