WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

He did say a lot of interesting things though.

Some of things my wife and I have been thinking about as well.

These are basically self reliance. A lot of countries have offloaded stuff to other countries, not just China, and it's become obvious that it hasn't been a good idea. He also pointed out that Europe needs to become more self reliant as well.

I agree with these things. Globalisation is neither good or bad but it depends on the parameters.

So it will be interesting where this goes. Marcon is typically not a person who just says things for the hell of it.

Yes he likes to talk a lot and he's had some issues but overall he's someone who wants to do things.

He also mentioned pay increases and that no one should have a low wage where they struggle.

So it will be interesting to see where this goes.

Lots of relationships have changed due to COVID-19. The one thing Trump was actually right now is to renegotiate how some of these industries are currently set up on a global scale.

I'm all for global trade. I'm also for having some components in house whereby when things like pandemics happen it can make a country still viable. Many US conglomerates fell in love with cheap Asian labor to please their shareholders with juicy super profits. I don't mind them making money, but there has to be some way of viability to have certain things in house on a smaller scale where production can easily be ramped up. The problem is that it's gotten so expensive to manufacture certain things here that you almost need a bit of protectionism for viability - which flies in the face of current capitalism.

The other issue that Biden will run into, say he wins, is that all the Obama credibility is gone. Some of the leaders on the world stage where he was VP are gone too. There will be a lot of rebuilding of trust and in many cases, the same level of cooperation prior to Trump won't ever exist again. If he tries to go back to the good old days, it won't work.

Countries are going to be very cagey setting up arrangements with each other going forward. Can it blame them fully either with such an approach.

It could be region blocked.
Could be. I do like their reporting though. Some things are too much fluff for my taste, but that's why I pay the subscription monthly. There only two papers I subscribed to: the NY Times and the NY Daily News. I want to add the Wall Street Journal but I don't have that extra monthly right now. Maybe by the end of the year.

I haven't said it but I've needed to use my VPN to view most of the links you post.

NY Times is mostly region locked as is a lot of USA content.

It's one of the reasons I don't bother with Netflix or Prime because I can't get what I want to watch because of the stupid region locks.

I can't believe we're in 2020 with internet and streaming services and all that but still content is blocked, even when you pay for it. So messed up.

I tried to get a new documentary recently. It's totally locked down for certain regions. It's all online too. I'm so confused as to why.

Makes no sense.

It's subscription based...i was only trying to post COVID-19 articles, which they stated people could see for free during the pandemic.

Ooh I didn't know this. This is why I haven't clicked, I just assumed that I wouldn't be able to see it since it only gives me like 3 or 4 free articles.

Hiring freezes. Yay. It's a bummer for people in general, but I'm coming from the soon to be graduating perspective.

I was afraid I'll be seeing Washington Post on your list. WSJ is also, I don't know, I want to say sensationalist, but which media these days isn't.

WSJ started one of the biggest contraversies in last few years, where they manipulated facts as af and caused one person to loose hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of dollars. But you had to pay 1$ to read the article, so it was very profitable for them.

I still get region blocked on Youtube. And for some reason, it's always not so well known rock/metal groups that I want to check out.

A couple of them that come to my mind are some Iced Earth songs and Circle II Circle.

Now imagine enrolling to Uni while knowing there's next to none chance you'll get a job. And our authorities are wondering why so much youth is leaving.

Made 100 face shields today. We ran out of materials so no more for today. Otherwise plan was 300 per person per half day.

I figured it might be. I just posted the links and let folks find the workarounds to do it.

I'm happy to report unofficially thay the two COVID-19+ pts I'm working with who were discharged home remain on the mend. Both are under 55 (1 male, 1 female).

The Huawei headphones USB-C sound amazing on the S20. Haven't opened the Buds+ yet. Most people rate them below other wireless headphones out there.
