Also noticed some things.

We went grocery shopping yesterday. We don't go overboard with anything.

We didn't like the experience. Haven't since this thing began.

Yesterday was particularly bad. Social distancing wasn't well respected. Lots of people with masks on, some not using them right...

But the main thing was the cost. Things appear more expensive. I'm not entirely sure but just seems when we go shopping the price feels higher.

I could be imagining things...

Market places are critical points here as well. Some people are wearing masks, others are not.
Prices are generally stable here, we've even had our government prohibit excess price rasises.

Yes inverters are very good and losses are low.

Basically the inverter converts AC to DC. The DC runs at RMS AC.

The beauty of using inverters is the control you have as well

They are constantly coming down in price too and getting bigger.

Inverters are great and they’ve saved my *** during hurricanes since the first one I bought in 2005. However, very few come with pure sine wave. Modified sine wave inverters can fry some electronics and those are the cheaper, more common ones. Be careful what you buy!!

These are some trying times no doubt, but adding to the misery we're all facing is the total cluster**** of biometrics. FaceID and other facial recognition is useless if you're wearing a mask. Fingerprint is no better while wearing gloves!!! Some displays are better than others at increasing sensitivity like old Lumias and other Windows Phones did while wearing gloves but who still uses a Windows Phone? Right, that's what I thought. Is anybody else as beside themselves?

Some phones still have a glove mode. Never used face ID, even though I have one of the most secure versions on the Mate 20 Pro. When in public I carry hand sanitizer and am careful where I put my hands and what I touch.

This is very true about not being able to win. Fortunately, hand sanitizer is always with me. I prefer the fingerprint as Face ID feels like it will be annoying right now.

I guess all of those iris scanners were on to something.

The thing is, it's very hard to make them sine. You'll mostly find ones that output the signal in a shape of a saw.
Rectifiers also output somewhat straighter signal, but it's usually very far away from being a constant.

The better approx. to sine, more money of course.

It's not that difficult and that's mostly IGBT technology. (Integrated Biploar Transistor, yes I know that by memory...) There are lower costs solutions.

IGBTs are typically used in low voltage applications. If you see any home appliance that says 'inverter' on it it will typically be IGTB (or similar) based.

Thyristors have a sinusoidal output.

Most HV systems are still thyristor based.

The bigger issue is harmonics being placed on the incoming lines, typically, 7, 9 and 11 which can cause damage to normal household appliances and technology. Inverters output a lot of harmonics.

Harmonic filters can be expensive but you can put one active harmonic filter and it works for everything. So yes more costs but not as much as people think.

So the USA is having protests against the lockdown.

So not surprised. I wish I could've got a snapshot of one of the banners about something to with the mark of the breast... Yeah.

I see Florida already opened its beaches...

I guess they're going with the idea that anything under a million dead is ok?

That's certainly not what I was taught.
I hated harmonics lectures. Filters even more.

Harmonics is difficult but important.

Can you be more specific about what you were taught?

Keep in mind when I say sinusoidal I mean compared to IGBT which is PWM.

It's 50% political and 50% whining by people who haven't been directly affected (outside of financially). It's one of the reasons why (the haphazard federal leadership another). That's why it's going to take a while to get back to level.

I don't have to put the dialogue for this

I'm on the outside looking in.. . and shaking my head in disbelief at the behaviour and reactions by Americans, from Trump, the politics, the conspiracist, the media and all the way to the ordinary people... the tragic thing is not everyone is going to be right.

That's where the missunderstanding comes from, I thought you meant ideal sine wave (not really ideal, but you get what I'm trying to say).
When we talked about inverting DC to AC, we generally talked about stepped up rectangular waves that mimic sine waves, or the saw shaped ones.

I saw a prediction map yesterday of when each state can possibly reopen. Florida wasn't a dark color, I guess they have to change that.

Edit: Here's the map: https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/another-month-computer-modelers-estimate-065307753.html

One of the challenges with shopping for groceries is how harder it's gotten to get some of the side things. Man, I cannot find frozen veggies to save my life where I shop. Plus, some of the greens I see aren't as up to snuff as usual. That's what happens with the bottleneck in supply we are seeing with restaurants being closed.

Why are both connected? Supermarkets cannot pick up that missing volume from restaurant. Plus we are hearing about the impact of COVID-19 on workers in the food supply industry.

is still tenuous. Don't let the spin fool you.
