I'll probably get another Redmi or one of the Samsung's A series.

I'm pretty sure I can get the best specs with Xiaomi, but honestly, the UI is so boring to look at and the screen isn't the best in the game.
Take a look at Realme as well. Xiaomi is screwing the pooch with these ads in MIUI for their Redmi phones. Or if possible, a Pixel 3A.

Well, depends on how you're willing to spend. The last thing I used for a while was the Mate 20 Pro. It's been LG's with jacks ever since. Well, it'll be for a month so we will see.
This is why I do t like dongles. The apple iPad one I have is WOEFULLY underpowered and now I can it find the decent one I have. I have a pair of Sony's cans I use. The sound is OK but their best features are they're foldable and the in line mic. I use these for calls in the house.

#donglelife can spit shine my dongle for all I care. It's not all the time I want to use wireless headphones.

Got both with my Redmi 5 Plus. Still hadn't got a chance to experience the lack of 3.5mm. But could in a near future.

I haven't been up to date with phones for a while now. I'll have to check what's out there that suits my wallet. I was thinking about a nice Huawei for a while now, but I doubt that's going to happen now that they ship with no Google services.

With Huawei, it will look like this with no Google services: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1EnOM2A6dE

you gonna be down for that SD845 LG velvet when it comes out? I really despise notches and punch holes, but if it is cheap enough I might eventually try one. IMO OEMs needed to have done more of this. Samsung may have started a trend with the S10 and Note 10 lite. The SD845 855 heck even the 835 on my LG V30 work fine....the V30 even with 4GB of RAM is better in most cases than my OP5t running 8GB on the same SOC. They do this and they can drop through back flagship phones with todays upgrades like OS updates, better screens, better wifi, etc. Of course they will only do this when they have to lol...like to make up cash flow.

Like the design but I'll pass. I have a V50 and V35 on the LG side. I've got a Pixel 3XL, 9 Pureview and V35 with the SD845 chip (also a G7+ if I could my friend's phone). No need for that in my stable.

The size is unattractive to me. I might actually go with the older Xperia V if I end up trying to get a newer phone or more recent with a 6.1 inch. I don't know.. I can't justify paying more than a hundred fifty to 2 hundred bucks for a phone nowadays

Good luck with that. It's why I'm happy with my current stable. I've got daily driver material, back ups and collection and speciality devices.

I do like the Xperia 5. If the Mark II version is the same as the this year's Xperia 1, I would pick it up next year. I don't mind sacrificing a bit of a better audio setup for something a little smaller. I think with Sony's battery optimizations I could get away with a 3800mah battery. It isn't a need though.

I checked local Pixel 3A offers, and even though they're not perfect and somewhat more pricey than I'm used to, I'm seriously considering it.

Thanks for sharing this. Honestly, it doesn't seem like a too big of a hustle, but Play store is what kicked off Android and made it this big. I've been in an app-less situation with my Lumias and I don't think I'm going back.

It's a real shame for these pretty looking devices.

I agree, that's how I felt too about the workaround. I wouldn't really feel like dealing with that again.

If you don't want to use GMS, or Huawei's app store you can still use Amazon apps store as a US customer. Or you go 100% MS and sideload apps.

As for me, I can go without Google services, I just don't like how the pro models for all the Huawei's since the Mate 20 line don't have flat screens.

It's really a pain. With the SIM in the Pixel, if I want to use music I have to use the dongle (if I can find it). The basic setup in the phone is OK audio wise. Otherwise, I have to turn on an LG. Again, for many people, it's irrelevant. For me, it's a hassle. We'll see how long it goes for. Finding good 3.5mm headphones is always pain. Finding USB C ones has been much, much worse.
