So something a bit humorous relating to politics and small towns...

The locality where my farm is has a population of around 560 people. So not many people but large amount of land due to farming, etc.

Now here in France (and lots of places in the EU) do a two round system for voting.

The first round you typically have a few candidates and in the second you have typically have two.

Now we had a first round of voting in my small town prior to the lockdown. Should point out I can't vote.

Now the second is ready to go.

Funnily enough I know the three candidates in the second round personally.

Literally our two closest neighbours, one being the son of the lady we bought the house off of. The other is an IT guy. The third person is a lady who has helped us a bit and she's a firefighter.

The IT is in the lead but not by much. The other two are tied. What's amusing is the two that are tied are close friends.

Not sure what's going on down there! It's gone a bit weird.

Wow that's interesting but also funny. I wonder how they thought or didn't think that the other would know that they are running lol.

I didn't know this has a name, but I fell victim to it more than once. There are many areas where I have an above average, sometimes even greeat knowledge, but because I know there's so much more to it, I don't feal as confident.

This is why I always loose my nerves when in family meetings.

"Never argue with stupid people, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."

Mark Twain

"The problem with the world is that intelligent people are full of doubt while the stupid ones are full of confidence"

Charles Bukowski

The bigger problem today is that not only is this effect in full swing in a lot of counties, the people are so caught up in being 'right' that they won't listen to opposing views or the information that provides proof that they have more to lean about the topic.

Their confidence is now ridiculously high to the point of conceit. They are right, you are wrong. Grey areas don't exist.

That is the issue.

As MIA used to say, ibid.

People are too entitled today. You can have an opinion just about anything and you can freely express it. That is freedom of speech after all. But people keep forgeting that opinion != fact.

We have a saying here that goes something like: "when you have no clue about something, you have an opinion". It's poorly translated, but you get it.

Happy father's day to all my brothers out there. For some reason I keep getting mother's day wishes from people who say I'm the biggest mother of them all. Hmmm?

So...

Some news.

My wife has started work on her podcast.

So far only the welcome is done and the artwork but she's lined up her first guest. She's going to do about five episodes first before she starts releasing them weekly.

I'll give you all the details once the first episode is up.

It's career related but it's more than that.

Happy Father's Day to Mr. Clue, 99, @aximtreo , and Chuck too. I'm sorry if I missed one but y'all are the ones that came to mind instantly for me due to discussions related to being a dad.

It looks like we're going to have floods this year too. It hasn't stopped raining in days and the rivers have grown seriously big.
If the rain doesn't stop in a day or two, we could have the 2014 scenario.

Many places here are prone to damages, and it's a known fact. But people keep building houses on those very places and the authorities are doing nothing to either stop them or help them.
If they're well known areas for flooding why are they building houses there?

Brisbane Australia ran into this issue back in 2011. Lots of houses built or modified in flood prone areas and they end up flooding. Go figure.

I have trouble having sympathy for that sometimes. Like, I feel sorry for the people but at the same time I'm like, well what did your expect? Worse still most them had no issuance coverage for flooding because they were known as flood prone areas.

Humans... Sigh.
