When will AT&T Lumia 830 get PROPER Denim update?

Which I probably can't get, since I have a RM-983. Swell.

OK, got a phone call today from MS/Lumia as the matter has been escalated to the "relevant team". I was told that the Denim fw update is unfortunately a matter of carrier approval and it depends. Nothing new of course, but the support person suggested I contact ATT with this, which I will. And of course we all know the outcome of this....

Sounds like b.s. on their part, per usual. Their unlocked U.S. variant from the Microsoft Store would have gotten the update already if what they're saying is true.

I am a bit ticked too that we don't have it, but like I keep saying, they probably found a problem with the specific firmware that is on the aT&T variant AND the 983 variant. I just wish they would be more open and let us know if they found a problem. Or what the holdup is.

Has anyone tried contacting Joe Belfiore about this via Twitter or Facebook? I don't do social media but am curious if anyone has tried to contact him. Maybe he can give us some answers.

Facebook will not get a proper reply but Twitter might. I will tweet both Joe Belfiore and Gabe Aul and see if they can provide something other than a canned BS response.

I had hoped that someone from the Windows Central team or maybe Mary Jo Foley and Paul Thurrott's group would have inquired about this Denim issue at Build last week and let us know something. Either there is an hardware issue with the 830 or AT&T is testing GDR2 to push out with Denim soon. Or they just suck and they are waiting for Windows 10 release which will also take many months for them to test. :crying:

I tried @WinPhoneSupport this morning and got the same canned BS excuse reply. So I guess they don't care if my carrier wants to take up to 6 months testing something that the rest of the world has already been using?

I would think it's an ATT thing, as opposed to MS, but I could be wrong.

Does ATT just keep giving the exact same response?

yes, and after two or three times they do not respond anymore. I think they are just silencing this out and hope nothing happens.

I dunno, I don't think it's just an AT&T thing. I have both the AT&T RM-983 and the Microsoft Store carrier unbranded RM-985 and neither have received the update. Someone should bug Microsoft about the latter. They can't blame AT&T for that.

Like I said I dont even care about the camera at this point . I just need Netflix on my phone to be fixed

That's for sure. This has been going on so long I just about forgot about the Netflix problem because I gave up on it.
So for me the camera and Netflix are the two big issues. Especially the camera since that's the main reason I bought the phone to begin with.
Is there a way to contact Daniel Rubino about this? Nobody is saying anything!

At this point I'm convinced ATT is just going to skip this Denim release and pretend the whole thing doesn't exist

They didn't skip it for the 1520. Denim was released back in Feb for the 1520 on ATT. Either there is a Denim issue with the 830, or they are testing GDR2 with it, or they are skipping it.
