When will the 1030 be released?

I just hope they release a 1020 upgrade, it does not need more Megapix just faster, better screen more ram and sd cards

Well, according to The Verge sources, the McLaren is the 1020 successor.

"Evleaks first unveiled the existence of Nokia McLaren, and we understand the device will largely be seen as a Lumia 1020 successor with a similar hump in the rear casing for a powerful camera."

Given that this is supposedly a device aimed at pulling people into the Windows Phone ecosystem, I'm not surprised Microsoft chose to combine the best of all the past and upcoming Lumia flagships into one extraordinary device. Whether that massive hump is a refined 1020 sensor or the planned dual-lens setup remains to be seen.

Well they have shelved the McLaren now. So whatever flagship they release this year end will he either the 1030 or the beefed up 1520 called the 1525 or something. I would say the 1525 and its versions because we haven't had any leaks on the 41 MP sensors. Evleaks would have pounced on any rumours of a 41MP new/modified/upgraded sensor.

I would not expect any 41mp Lumia from Microsoft to come until 2015 IF at all.
Remember Microsoft said they would not release phones "because". And releasing a 1030 which would be just a 1020 with specs bump fits into that "releasing phones because" category.

If a successor comes, it will bring something new that is worth to release a phone for. So, if Microsoft gets some really cool Canon lenses to replace the ones from Carl Zeiss (or just "Zeiss" now), then they may release the new 41mp. Otherwise I do not think it's on top of Microsoft's priority list to release niche devices.
