Wireless charger chimes in the middle of the night after GDR2/Amber

I too am glad that I am not the only one. I was beginning to get worried that the charging plate or the phone was showing signs of hardware failure. I might just start using a wired charger again if that is going to happen. Kind of defeats one of the main spiffs I like so much about this phone though :/

I counted 3x it woke me up in the middle of the night last night. That sucked :/

I've had a similar issue prior to amber update. Now I seems to chime a little more consistently around 5 or 6:(

I have "all other notifications" turned off.

Battery life seems to be similar regardless of how the 920 has been charged.

So much for the convenience of qi...

I don't think this has to do with the phone reaching full charge. The other night I put my phone on the wireless charger with about 60% battery life left. About 15 minutes later I heard the chime.

I don't remember I've ever read about that issue from any forums here in Finland (nor experienced it myself, of course). Not before nor after Amber update. Does anyone know is it just L920 problem or is it for example L820 problem also?

I have the same issue. Just turn the phone on vibrate only at night when you put it down until they can fix it.

I have this same problem with my 920, but my friend hasn't had the problem with her 820. Not sure what it is, but it tends to wake me up in the middle of the night.

I just registered in order to reply to this thread. I'm happy with my Lumia 920 but I'm not a power-user, so I've not paid much attention to this forum to-date.

The repeated charging noise after the recent update is bothersome. Just skimming the threads in this forum, I get the feeling there are dozens of other glitches that I've never encountered. So, given the number of other issues people have reported, I'm curious how likely it is that the charging noise will be resolved before the next major update. Do they actually deploy any form of hotfixes? If so, I've never noticed.

I suppose I should be happy that aside from the periodic noise, charging doesn't seem any less effective than before.

Just curious, are you all from US who has this problem?

Still no fixes on this issue? Having the same problem and it is hard to convince the wife to switch over to this phone, when she is getting woken up every night by this chime sound.

Same problem here, AT&T 920; I don't think it is OS related, same problem with GDR3. One thing I wanted to point out is that the phone originally had a sound when removing from the charger as well. This sound mysteriously disappeared when installing an update, I believe Extras+Info several months ago but not sure if that is the right one. So maybe they can update it again to fix this? In any case, there will almost definitely be an update with the Black update. Hopefully this issue is resolved. Turning the sound off isn't an option for me as I need to be able to receive emergency calls.

She shouldn't switch until the issue is resolved.

Same here, about 5 AM wake-up call since the update. How could they miss this?

Good point. Seems inexcusable.

I noticed it a few nights ago and thought it was because I was running the 'Sleep' app.

To answer the Finnish guy's question, yes, we are in the U.S.

That's odd this problem is only in the USA. Something has to gone wrong with Amber update for US L920. Has anyone tried hard reset if it helps?

Same in the Netherlands. I just take it off the charger, put it back and it works again. I don't wake up by the sound though, it's not long enough for that..

Looks like I have this issue as well. I haven't wirelessly charged my phone in awhile except for twice recently nearly two weeks ago. I noticed that my 920 seemed to be disconnecting and reconnecting to its charger when I was using it next to me one night while I was sitting on the couch. Then, a night or two later, it seemed even worse when I was trying to charge it overnight. My phone wouldn't go to sleep and kept staying on the home screen instead. I wondered why, took a closer look and saw that the charge was acting up. I thought it was my CC-1043 cover, so I removed it, thinking that would solve things. Not sure what happened after that because I went to sleep afterward, but at least the phone was fully charged when I got up the next morning.
