I wouldn't say never, but I'm a little iffy about buying another Windows phone. I guess it would depend on what W10m is going to be like in the future.

Right now if I broke my 640, no way. WP8.1 works great, but it is being abandoned for W10m, and W10m is kind of okay, but it needs a lot of polishing and a lot more app support before I even consider spending money on it.

If W10m matures drastically and Microsoft's bridges strategy takes off like a rocket by the time I need to replace my 640, then, yeah, I could get another Windows phone. If it doesn't, then I'll get a Nexus.

The very first time I set eyes on windows phone 7, I almost threw up haha.... but then I bought a Lumia 920 down the road, it was nice. I later got an Xperia Z Ultra and then the Z2. From there I got the Blackberry Passport. Once I saw a Lumia 1520 laying around in my house, I threw the Blackberry to my dad (hold that for me). Windows phone 8.1 was flying on that thing LOL, the performance was top notch. I needed apps, so I got the Moto X Pure and then later sold that for a Nexus 5 which I am currently using....
YES I would buy a Windows Mobile, in fact.... I have my eyes set on the upcoming HP Elite X3, and I'll probably get it to go along with my Nexus 5

Originally I bought Lumia 800, was happy for a while, until MS announced less than a year later that Windows 7.x phones have no future. Same time promises were made that with the next generation of Lumias the future was going to be brighter and uppgradebility guaranteed. Ok, so I went to buy Lumia 925 next. Now I just learned that MS shafted their customers once again by leaving a long list of Lumias out of Win 10 upgrade option, my 925 included. Also, I bought recently a new car equipped with Mirrorlink thinking foolishly that for sure, Windows Phone will soon support Mirrorlink, since the Nokia-developed system came with Nokia acquisition. Wrong again. MS has no plans to support Mirrorlink despite of competing Apple Carplay or Android Auto.

One of the first things MS did after Nokia acquisition was to drop Mix Radio, which is now dead. As to Here Maps, MS had no interest in acquiring them from Nokia or even negotiate a deal with the new owner to support Windows Phone in future. Now Here navi/maps are about to disappear totally from Lumias. Mix radio and Here were some of the main reasons why I preferred Windows Phone. If Microsoft gets rid of some of the most valuable apps in their ecosystem, why would third party developers show any trust in the future of Windows Phone either? In the meantime Microsoft has laid off most of the people they got with Nokia meaning that the innovation capacity that came from Nokia, is pretty much gone and any new phones from MS would be mediocre at best.

All the reasons why I originally went with Windows Phone are pretty much gone and there is no way, I would get another Microsoft Phone again under these circumstances. In fact today I am glad, that MS cancelled Lumia 840 as I had planned to replace my 925 with it.

I will now wait to see, if and when Nokia will be back in game later this year hoping that I could then buy a phone with Nokia logo at that point no matter the operating system.

This is a tough question to answer. I originally said hell yes, but a lot has changed since then. I find myself getting more and more dissatisfied with the ecosystem and Android has since called my name. I still for the life of me can't understand why Microsoft apps on Android and IOS are better than their native OS, and the Android experience has improved dramatically since 4.x.

I'm not ready to write the possibility completely off, but Android works better for me right now. Hopefully that will change.

My answer would have been 100% yes until after reading about //build/ and they have no intentions on working on the phone side of things until at least 2017. That means I am guessing the islandwood project is canned, They already bailed on Astoria, They bailed on the promise they gave once w10 was released about older phones running 8.1 being 100% upgradeable to w10. The past couple of weeks have left a really sour taste regarding w10 for a phone in my mouth. I am not buying a new windows phone, I am getting a new android and seeing how that works. My note was slow and laggy, I am going to the asus zenfone 2 Deluxe SE. 128gb on board storage plus 128gb sdxc card included. 4gb ram, intel processor, zenwatch 2 compatable, and lots of cool accessories like a real xenon flash attachment for the camera. All in all a nice package. I will have all accessories and apps that are continually promised "coming soon", and never do. This past week I really did an about face regarding windows phone. Too bad too, as it is a great operating system, just run by complete morons. When your software runs better on competing platforms compared to your own. There's something not right upstairs with the companies leaders. I am not surprised considering they all use apple devices anyways. How do the public trust your new products when you don't trust them or use them yourself. That's like the CEO of ford driving a Chevrolet vehicle.

Only if MS improve its OS....I own Lumia 520. I loved its hardware. But was uncomfortable with its OS. Especially no good native apps for Gmail, Facebook, Line. However, I had my share of good apps too..Like Transfer My Data ( my Android friends had a tough time finding a similar app). Banking was not an issue as my bank, State Bank of India had a good app for it.
But if Windows Phone loses touch with customers, then surely developers will be reluctant to enter it. Unless Windows has a good app ecosystem, I may not purchase it again.

It would be interesting if one day Windows Mobile evolves into a serious consideration. I really think it could happen. I remember back when I first tried Android in the Froyo days, I thought it was awful and said never again. Tried iOS, liked it, and switched to it for two years until I got to play with a friend's Jelly Bean phone and felt that Android has really improved since, and now Android is my favorite. Right now I feel W10m is just marginally good enough for me to keep using. But who knows? Maybe W10m is in an "ugly duckling" stage right now. It's why I'm still using my L640. Kinda interested in seeing how it evolves.

Don't get me wrong, w10m is the nicest OS available. but........MS's handling of how they are doing things proves they don't care about it, and just want to focus on other things. I assume since they could give two you know whats about it, that after the first round of w10 phones are released from the other companies, they are all that's coming. W10M is really on life support. and MS has their hands on the plug ready to pull. This is coming from a staunch supporter and fan of windows mobile. Not a troll coming in to blast it every chance they get.

I love Windows phones and I love my 950 but I just don't think I will be buying another one. I upgrade every December and I think I'll be going for a nexus this year. I've never really had a android I don't have any real problems with the 950 but just feel like I'm missing out using it and after the staments made at build I think it's time to move on. I hope they do great things with windows os on phones but for now it's not for me.

I went back to my iPhone 6 as a Daily driver after 9.3 dropped, its been cool. I have phone ADD and will sim swap someday but its been fun...

I definitely would, and probably will. I currently have three phones which I use - a L1020, 640, and Galaxy S5. The Galaxy obviously has the most apps, but I continually return to my WP because I just love the OS so much. I'm currently using the 1020 as my daily driver, and while it's much slower with a smaller screen than the 640, the camera is really hard to give up (although the 640 and S5 both have solid cameras as well, and much faster).

I have mixed feelings about the 950/XL...while I think Continuum is really cool, and their cameras are demonstrably great, I just think the design is so plain. I might wait a year to see what they come out with for the next flagship, and try to get as much life out of the 1020 as possible, but if the price gets low enough, I may spring for a 950 XL. Overall, I am not disenchanted with the platform like so many people seem to be.

100% no. After 2.5 years my adventure with Windows mobile is over in a couple of months, my 920 goes in the drawer and I'm back to Android again. It's going to be truly joyful to install Firefox, Tasker and Google maps again and respectively reap the fruits of extensions, true automation and unbeatable maps. Furthermore I look forward to be able to dictate an sms in my native language again.

CGA111, give your phone to someone less fortunate around you instead of giving it the drawer treatment if the battery is still serviceable. Its still a very good basic smartphone experience that, while it may not satisfy you, could be the entire difference to someone else. Just because you're moving out of a platform doesnt mean you cant show it some love or give it a parting gift before you do.
