WP hardware is frustrating

Mirrors the issues I have on the Focus S. I've had the unfortunate luck to have 4 flavors of Galaxy, the Galaxy S (well, to be fair, it was a family member's unit...), Galaxy SII (TW version), Focus, Focus S. One thing is evident: the audio quality of the Galaxy SII/Focus S is noticeably worse than the Galaxy S/Focus. I don't know if the Galaxy SII was fixed later on, as I left that device back home (and home is far away :().

The Focus is not a Galaxy S phone and doesn't have sound on par with it. It uses completely different, run of the mill, sound hardware in it.

However being made almost completely of plastic may perhaps help it there vs the HD7. The sound quality isn't excellent, but the Focus does have better volume than the HD7.

I honestly have not been happier with a device than I am with the Focus Flash. I love the look, feel, performance, and bug-freeness so far. I had the Focus and HD7s prior to this device. I also had the Galaxy S II and I prefer the Flash. I just think it has the best overall feel to it.

My only real complaint is why they don't offer a 16GB version. This is not a deal-breaker for me, but it definitely is for some. The GPS is the best of any device I have used.

The GPS is an area where the HD7 performs flawlessly. Locks in < 10 second with extreme accuracy.

The Vibrant is pathetic there ... not surprisingly.

My HD7s GPS is pathetic. It is the third device and they were all the same. That is the number one reason I replaced it. It seems to lock somewhat quickly, but it doesn't track well and hiccups a lot. I like to use GPS Speedometer apps and this will quickly show you how often a device GPS loses signal.

The Flash has GLONAS in it, I am not sure if the S has this feature though. I am not kidding, the Flash takes literally 3 seconds tops to get a lock. It is down to three meters in about 5 seconds. I am amazed that a Samsung device has such a good GPS. My Focus was not that great, I had a Captivate that was utter crap, and I had a Vibrant (old work phone) that was also crap. I had an SE X10 that was outstanding, Moto Atrix was very good, and the Galaxy S II was almost as amazing as the Flash.

We still don't know exactly what HW is in the Focus, lol. None of the teardowns I have looked at ever looked at that area. Subjectively? They are roughly on the same level (part of that may be because I don't have anything above 320k on there). I know the Galaxy S has a Wolfson ASIC.
