An ambassador?

What you did was fine. We have too many live tiles not working threads, plus you directed him to the other threads. He also posted about the thread closings in the Ambassador forum, so I am sure Dave will address it.

Let me see if i still have the PM from a guy who blew a gasket when I closed his thread. It makes rdubmu statement look mild at best.

Addendum:found it:

you're a little ***** for closing my thread! you can close my account too **** your website if I don't have the freedom to even reply. I didn't even had a chance to reply to those idiots. I own a lumia 920 and I know no devices or hard drives ever come with the full amount storage but I never seen a memory card or flash drive that says 32 and you only have a total of 29. One gig is acceptable but 3! I understand if I was a 100gb hard drive 3 gigs missing would make sense but not 9% of a memory! So **** you!

Thank you guys! I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something that was not supposed to be done. I only code databases and not forums but generally a popular topic (with loads of post) automatically becomes attractive for a reader who searched for something specific and that was the logic by which I closed that thread.

Not surprisingly it's the same ambassador that had an issue with my actions on a thread last weekend. Talked with Laura and Palandri about it, sent him a pleasant PM and he still was unhappy.

I think he just isn't sure what he wants to do now.

In a way, it's kind of like how I had been. CB didn't have Ambassadors, and I still don't think it does. If anyone knows me from CB, I was a very dedicated defender of BB for quite some time. The turning point for me was when I was out of contract and waiting for BB10, which was supposed to arrive early 2012 according to the deposed co-CEOs of BB. I had passed on the BB7 devices, since I was waiting for BB10 (coming soon--like everything those CEOs promised) and also knew that the 9900 had a crappy camera and BB7 still got black hourglass of death.

During this time, I belonged to a BBM group that actually included some mods from CB (and several other folks who were similar to me in terms of knowledge of unbricking/installing hybrid OS/shrinking OS/other technical stuff). I expressed my concerns with them privately via BBM and refrained from posting my issues on the public forums. I almost went Android--I believe AC was the second Mobile Nations site I joined--I asked a few questions on the forums, but mainly privately asked, since some of the people in the BBM group also had Androids.

My last straw came when my mom wanted to know when one of her favorite TV shows which had been on hiatus would return. I told her I'd check online. Well, the BB froze up with the spinning black clock of death when I opened the browser and wouldn't do a thing. I did a battery pull, and the BB took over 5 minutes to reboot. I wanted to throw it across the room! I told my mom I'd check using my PC browser when I got home, which I did. My mom is not technical in the least and uses a feature phone, but she thought the BB was bad.

Then I saw CES 2012 and the Nokia Lumia 900. I knew that's what I'd be getting and pretty much laid low on CB from that point on (took almost 4 months from CES to AT&T release date). The funny thing is I used to have in my CB profile "PM for PIN". I got a PIN request the very last day I used BB. I replied to the person who requested my PIN that I was leaving. The next day I got my Nokia Lumia 900, and now I pretty much only post in off topic on CB when I am there.

Yea rdubmu is known for doing stuff like this and I even posted a thread about him before. Doesn't seem like someone who is supposed to represent the members (a forum lead) should be acting that way.

I'm almost tempted to infract that post myself. But as Dave is dealing with it I will leave it with him.

Issues like that are best left to Dave.

Couldn't agree more.

I don't know how old rdubmu is or how long he's been posting on forums but mods have been closing and merging threads for as long as I can remember. I read the original thread, Rock, you gave him like 5 different current threads to post in. The OP should be so lucky that he even has that many choices. I've seen forums far more strict than ours. I agree with Eric, rdubmu's behavior is unfitting for an ambassador and he doesn't seem to grasp the basic duties of a moderator. It still boggles my mind that people think they should be allowed to rant, curse, and squabble like children. It's a forum for your SMARTPHONE, not the wild wild west.

Is Dave allowed to demote or can we give him a temporary vacation? He should be glad I aren't in charge. If he pulled a stunt like that on my forum he would get IP email and username banned. He would then get his account deleted.

It's good to see that the team echoes in an identical fashion about this. Now I don't feel that bad for closing down that thread, plus I saved a cat ffs!

We can demote through the control panel, we would just enter his name and then under user group we change it to member rather than ambassador. We shall see what Dave says on the matter but after this I think he should no longer be an ambassador.

I am at my daughters soccer game. When its over I will take a better look.

It's Sunday, enjoy your daughter's game. Family time is important, this can wait.

Games over we won, when I say we I mean them not me I didn't do anything but sit there and yell.

Okay I sent him a PM I will let you guys know how it comes out. Bottom line in the PM, this wont be tolerated from an member of the Ambassadors team.
