Hard Resetting - Backing up WhatsApp

I want to hard reset my Lumia 925. It's not been syncing achievements with Xbox for a while, which is probably due to a setting I turned off right before the 8.1 update in 2014. (I turned connecting to Xbox Live off, after the update there was no way to turn it back on.) However, from what I've read most apps back up fine, except for WhatsApp. Can anyone tell me if I can somehow keep my message history after a hard reset? I've backed up both apps through Windows Phone itself, and i've made a backup in WhatsApp.

WhatsApp USED to backup chats to OneDrive when you backed up your phone, but I think they've removed that feature for some reason :/
I'm not sure though.

I made the mistake of backing up my WhatsApp. Now all messages are gone and there's nowhere I can retrieve my backups. What a backup!
