HTC 8X not in GDR1 Dev Preview

cause cortana UK comes with GDR1.

My T-Mobile US 8X with developers preview 8.1 has Cortana.

None. Every update has come through except the latest 8.1 GDR1, which is being temporarily held back for HTC devices.

I had to go the developers route because T-Mobile US has abandoned support for its 8Xs.

My 8X runs great on 8.1; it's a significant improvement.

Have we received confirmation that it's only a ttemporary hold back? I love my 8X, and really want the W8, but I'm waiting to see what happens with gdr 1 before supporting more HTC.

I read that. It hardly sounds definite to me, and it makes me uncomfortable to think HTC may be holding back updates for the purpose of selling new hardware.

You may be right, but I'm trying to be positive. On the other hand, if my 8X doesn't get any more updates I'm OK with that for a while. It doesn't sound like the GDR1 changes would be that useful to me.

This update issue, though, puts Microsoft in an awkward position. If carriers (T-Mobile) and OEMs (HTC) don't continue support, MS has to do something to keep users loyal. I'll bet that's a critical reason for the developers preview, and why it sounds like they are 'working' with HTC to update the drivers.

All this is speculation, but if it's not true it's a real black eye for Windows Phone.

All in all, as much as I like my 8X, a Lumia may be a better choice next time.

But you would think that Microsoft would be there for all there customers preview or no even if there was parts of the GDR1 update that could be left out I love my X8 and it took a lot to pick it out I don't want to have to go through that all again but time will tell

i contacted htc and a represantative told me:
John, we have knowledge that the update will be released today, however you can contact your carrier to know when they will release the update.

It is the official 8.1.
