Norwegian "Lefse" - a type of flat bread with butter, sugar, and cinnamon. More like a snack than a full meal though, but very delicious! And should almost always be accompanied by a mug of strong black coffee.

Some of the food posted looks as if it was thrown on a plate; not very appealing, something I could do at home if I wanted to eat some of the food you people like.

The whole idea of taking pictures of the food your eating was fine; now people have to show everyone, everything they are eating and it's lost it's jazz. When I post something, everyone can get it, I hope everyone, and it eat it, universal, I try at least anyhow.

There are quite a few home cooked meals in the pictures here. You might want to subscribe to some Instagram or Twitter feeds for gourmet food pics!

This thread is just some fun. Nothing serious here. Just appreciation of food from different places and just getting to know different things.

So...I need to get caught up from this week. Here goes:

Junior's is not only famous for their cheesecakes, but has the old school food. Yes, they play 60's and 70's pop and R&B in there, and serve their portions that way too.

I had the beef brisket with mixed vegetables and mash. The GF had the Caribbean style salmon with coconut rice.

Miami...more specifically, Coconut Grove. On out first night...

Bread pudding for dessert. The GF had the fish in coconut sauce. I had lobsters with pasta. And the appetizer was shrimp with avocado.

More Coconut Grove eats. We hit this place twice. Day One:

GF had ceviche for the first time (if I can find the picture, I'll post it). She went with this nicely done lemon salmon and mixed vegetables. I did a tilapia with potato wedges.

Downtown Miami for lunch:

GF had mofongo for the first time...she went with the shrimp version. I had a Picadillo (beef casserole) with white rice, plantains and black beans.
