We've tried a few of those. If you like Chardonnay, Clos du Bois Chardonnay is pretty good for the price.

Chardonnay is a good choice!

Started out with the white wines mostly.
Then turned into a red sipper so these days we hang with the Cabernet-Pinot Noir-Merlot and Petite Syrah types.
Now that French wines are lower in price the wife wants to try a few.

I keep reading that the French vints are pretty spectacular these days.
Is this true?

We really don't drink a lot of French wine in the states or in France. We normally drink 1664 beer in France. The French wine we drink in France, I don't see in the states. You really don't need to pay over 5 euros for a decent bottle of wine in France. There was one we tried last fall in France that was made with grapes and strawberries. It was so smooth, it was like drinking kool aid, until you tried to walk.

Here's one that's hard to find and if you find it you normally don't buy it due to th price. Normally $16.99 for a 4 pack. Binny's Liquor has it on sale for $9.99. You have to be careful with it, alcohol is 9.5%, very strong beer.

So I'm back from Finland and I see the thread has gone bonkers again! You'd think I was away for a week or something. :p

I went to a birthday party which had a Finnish food buffet, as you do in Finland and I thought I would share some of the food. I'll start off with showing the menu (I had trouble finding a translation) but I can describe what food is there.

Menu

Overview of the buffet. That's rye bread and buns in the front.

The buffet. On the left we have herring done in two ways, garlic sauce and mustard sauce. Then smoked salmon and pepper crusted ham with a berry sauce. On top right we have potatoes au gratin then two salads, one Greek style and the other is a green salad. There was a dressing similar to a Thousand Island dressing. In the centre (the yellow roll things) is a vegetable terrine that appeared to be potato, spinach and pumpkin.

I am surprised at how good our caterer's pasta is. Seems sardines pasta? Have to ask them.
