I'm standing my ground, and sticking with Windows Mobile.

Who else is with me? Till the bitter end we stick together, we will make it through, and we know good things come to those who wait.

My 1520 finally crashed and screen shattered, I'm now looking for a 950XL as an upgrade or if I can find an HP x3 for cheap that'll be great too.

I don't think WM is a burning and a sinking ship at all, I just think we're in a transitional phase, and there's absolutely no reason why MS isn't doing something secretly in their Research Lab. They're most likely preparing for the post-smartphone era that's about to unfold in the next couple of years or so. I'm very excited to finally see the "foldable phone" they've been working on for quite some time now, and I'm sure it'll be great.

I would totally understand why you are leaving this platform, and it's absolutely within reason and totally justified, I won't miss you though because I know deep down inside, you've got a special place for WM and you'll eventually come back to us when a new spark has been ignited.

But for us who are staying and sticking through this long haul, we're going to be all right. Everything is going to be all right. We shall make it through and reap the rewards when the time is right.

I hope so. I would like to see microsoft listen more to improving a growing backlog of issues still not being adressed by the updates. I think windows needs that to restore faith in its users and followers. The innovation is growing at the cost of fit and finish I will keep using my 1520 and 950xl till they phisically die.

I will use my 1520 and 950 xl till they phisically die. I'm conservative

I'm still thinking about upgrading to Surface pro "5" LTE. Main issue I have is still the lack of fit and finish of the tablet experience. It's better than say 10 years ago. But I think microsoft has the tools and means to make the dit and finish better today. The insiders feedback has been there for the past three years. Not sure what the holdup is. The surface would be a wonderful (productivity) device of the software was a tad better at launch.

I'm waiting for whatever Andromeda will be, if it ever comes. In the meantime I'll stick to my 3 930s until they expire. Then I don't know, maybe a dumb phone. Can't stand Apple and don't like Google / Android so yeah.

I think those who stay are the people who don't really live in the current mobile world. Unless they have a secondary phone.

I have a Lumia 640. As long as Office is operable, Skype is functioning and Edge is usable, I can survive. Oh, and telephony too.

We're similar to the type of people who were sticking with dumb phones just because they can live with it. Just in a more modern sense.

I'll continue to use my 950XL, but it's just because I'm not really a heavy phone user. I do texting, camera, email, phone calls and light web browsing. For these things the 950xl will continue to function. There are rare cases when I want an app and can't find something equivalent but it's pretty rare for me to do that. I just don't use apps the way other people do. I still do a lot of stuff on my computer.

Unless there is any great advance in phones I plan to use this 950xl until it's dead or the batteries become more expensive than a new phone. Whenever that day comes my next phone will likely be an android unless someone shakes up the market.

The downturn lately has made me a bit bitter on MS in general. I am no longer a fan of the company, but neither is Nadella. I will use items as they make sense and stop using them when it stops making sense.

I cancelled my Skype subscription. I will cancel my Office 365 when it comes due (because of price increase + direction of the company) and move back to an old copy I bought years ago that works well enough. I will not be able to buy music from Groove anymore so I'll use 7digital now.

On the other hand I still like XBOX and will continue to support it. I have a pre-order Scorpio. I will keep using windows on my PC because I have lots of software that only runs on windows, but I won't be doing insider builds and testing.

I hope they don't screw up xbox next. I have a gaming capable PC but for some reason I generally prefer playing on xbox. If they mess up Xbox I guess I'll move exclusively to Steam.

I don't know if they realize how much keeping things going transfers into other business. My liking xbox (plus Nokia's design) lead me to a 920. That lead to Groove, Office 365, Skype, 950xl, insider builds and more.

(sorry for the long reply; I guess I've been thinking about this a lot lately)

You will find many people like me all around you who still have faith in Windows Mobile.
@Joe has done a bad thing by twitting this kind of news. Instead, he should have chosen Microsoft News or Windows sites to announce this kind of news methodically.

Microsoft has great tech personnels but one of the worst in industry occupying the Management chairs. Be transparent but make sure you convey message clearly than conveying in 140 characters.

Microsoft should analyse, learn and adopt or they will fail like no one ever did before.

There is no reason to leave if you are happy with this modern and safe OS. Microsoft will give further Software support and you can buy a backup phone.

That attitude is what makes WM what it is now, there are partners willing to come out with new apps and phones, they turned Nokia a success into a failure, is like if whoever is in charge wants it to be a failure but has been having trouble getting it there because there are loyal WP users like us and many more, I would place this platform on a fresh team with new vision.

Windows Central likes to stir the pot. Windows people are LOYAL. We all know WM is dead. We all also know that is because Windows is going for a single OS across the spectrum. We true fans know, and we will stay. Android is for children and IOS is for people with more money than sense. As an "Insider", I have seen the Windows platform change a lot and, it is headed in the right direction.

I am. Not because I want to and I still blindly love this lost and betrayed cause and company fam like y'all, it is because I am from developing world and not all people here like y'all from first world can replace smartphones every year or if they want to. I'm stuck and I have not choice. But if I have I'll def get a Note 8, bc that's how "Windows on phone" should have been, flexible and powerful as Android Oreo and a very productive enabling device

As a tech geek, I felt the need to keep up during this transitional phase, which is why I currently rock a GS8. However, still after many months, I can't get used to lots of things, and even miss certain things from W10M. So, if and when Microsoft sorts out its mobile business I will be back, hopefully for good. Because I know Microsoft can do so much more, as proven by Surface-line of computers as well as Xbox.

I'm out. Sorry. They have until my 950xl is nigh unusable to impress me with whatever is next. But if they can't get their $#!+ together, I'm going back to the Goog. I don't want to, but it's not like they want us to stay either.

If they would just add telephony to Windows 10, I might just get an LTE Surface and call it a day. I'll have a Bluetooth headset and apps that work. Today I couldn't even get Spotify to play more than 1 sec. of a song. #RIPGroove

After years of pushing WP to friends and family, I have to say no more. My dad is on iOS now, my wife back to iOS and my brother in law moved to Android. My daughter and I still have our Lumia 950's, but soon will no longer as we both have had alot of issues as of late. The only MS product I will continue with is XBOX as that won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

With great sadness, I am moving on to Android. My new phone arrives tomorrow. Figured I better move now before the apps I really do use are no longer available.

I returned my X3 at MS store :( today. They tried to sell me an S8 :(. I declined the offer. Headed over to TMo afterwards to look at LG V30 and Note 8. Both are long and skinny. My Idol 4S has roughly the same screen width, just not as long. Kind of a turn off for me since I really liked the X3 size / aspect ratio. I also was reminded of why I hated android and left 8 MThs ago. Needless to say, I will be using my Idol 4S for as long as possible. If HP relaunches X3 with android, I would definitely consider making change if same size and free of bloat.

Still...?
Of course, what else is there...
My 950 XL works just fine
My wife's 950 XL also
My sons 950 as well
So do my moms 820 and mother in laws 720
And some 1020's and 650's also in my family...
Strange question really... 😁

I refuse to goto i-anything, and have not liked Android, so I am Windows everything til its impossible. Not because I am blindly stubborn, but I am genuinely fond of the functionality and ease of use inherent of Windows 10 Mobile...

I do not understand either why some people feel like the immediately need to jump to a different platform, but to each their own I guess. I've been using WM since the 920. I loved that thing it was built like a tank, heck it still looks almost like new. When WM10 came along and the 920 didn't run it well I grabbed a 640, then ended up giving that to my dad when I got a great deal on a 950. Just picked up an x3 to hold me out a while longer and was impressed with features (except problem with SD tray that HP is trying to address). Will probably be selling the 950 on eBay.

That might sound like being a fan-boy but I'm really not. I honestly prefer the interface of WM so much more than the other 2 platforms. I will stick it out probably a year or two longer since just getting the X3 and see what happens then. Really do not relish the thought of having to switch. Hopefully in the meantime MS will unveil some sort of ultra mobile PC to fill the void...

I have owned both iPhone and Android in the past but like WM interface so much more. I detest the lock-in of Apple's ecosystem and every time I have to pick up one of my family members iPhones to do something I cringe trying to stumble around in the app icon graveyard. Every Android device that I have ever owned ended up becoming frustratingly slow over time. Maybe they have improved that but I really don't want to find out. The other issue I have with Android is that unless you are using one of a handful of devices (e.g Pixel, Galaxy) you may be stuck on the OS version that shipped with it never to see an upgrade.

As far as apps go I don't really use a tremendous number of them and have found what I need exists for WM. Granted there are a few times that a company I do business with has something on an app that I can't get on WM but I have used my iPod mini to bridge the gap on those rare occasions. Personally, I would like to see progressive web apps take off where everything can be accessed from one app (a browser) and give a rich user experience that the current platform specific mobile apps provide. The model of an app for this and an app for that ends up with a lot of clutter and confusion on your mobile device over time.

Anyway , I've probably bored everyone to tears so I will end my post here... :winktongue:
