I had no choice but to buy the orange Lumia 640. I would rather prefer blue. Is it anywhere possible to find a blue or at least black battery door online?

Sorry, I messed up the link to the battery cover I bought. I've fixed that. They have Black/White/Blue/Orange... Amazon.com: Back Housing Battery Door Cover Rear Case Compatible with Microsoft Lumia 640 (Orange): Cell Phones & Accessories

Amazon has many sellers with 640 compatible battery covers. Check it out.

Wish someone would hand me down some of their old flagships and devices that they just have collecting dust in their drawers Mary. Ofcourse not people using their 'beast' phones. But I see so many people here on these forums complaining about lack of support and putting away their devices for good and what not. I mean, let them go ladies. Let people have them who want devices to play with, put it on fleabay, swappa, give it to someone you know who is less fortunate, or just someone who likes to play with devices. Spread the love, no?

And for mister Yolo, here's the super colorful bunch of cheapos up on sale from my AliExpress, and no, Im not related to them. They're just cheaper, and they ship to where I am now. Thats all. Even if it takes a few weeks for them to get here to me. :(

Back Cover Case for Microsoft lumia 640, Housing door Battery Cover Replacement for Nokia lumia 640, with side button-in Phone Bags & Cases from Phones & Telecommunications on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

I bought a yellow one on ebay. Fit fine, was a little thicker than the OEM case, but the buttons did not stick up enough to use them easily. That is the one thing to be careful with on these colorful non-OEM cases.

Well, I've run myself near broke on my recent spree of purchases and upgrades, so I'm not trigger happy at all. Not that 3 bucks down the drain would be much, but thats something you need to put in your head - spending attitudes. But its no fun being a fresh graduate in a niche design profession. :/ But the heads up is great Ryan. :) Always good to have more information on what you're getting yourself into, with any purchase. And information on things like these is hard to come by, especially if youre part of the 1 percenters that us windows mobile folks now are. And people talk about the privileged one percenters. Kidding.

Same. I'm partial to yellow, myself. I'd kinda like to try ordering another one, but I'm afraid it'll just be another let-down.

I have a matte white and matte blue one on the way and I'm hoping they don't have any issues with the buttons. The reviews on AliExpress seem to mostly be 5 stars for that particular back cover so maybe these ones will be good.

Case needed for 640?

Just picked up a 640 - and it's great. Don't usually put cases on my phones - but given that the back seems to be a soft plastic, is a case a good idea on the 640? If so, what's a good and minimalist case?

Id put a case on it, scroll through the pages. We've run the gamut from replacement back covers to pleather to plastic to rubber to... you get the idea. :p
Tell us what you want. :)

It's up to you if you want to bother or not, but I'll suggest this ebay seller.

I felt the same as both you and camaroz after trying a non-OEM green one before trying this seller. I took a chance on them and made a thread about it, with pictures: http://forums.windowscentral.com/mi...-non-oem-back-cover-recommendation-640-a.html

I hope that will help some.

Thank you! That seller's yellow shell seems much more like the real thing than the one I had bought. I went ahead and ordered this one.

I also ordered a tempered glass screen protector off of ebay for about $5. Went on like a charm, and fits perfect but I do feel that at times it makes the screen a bit less responsive to touch.

Yes, please do squirrel. Im counting on you to come back with a good report soldier. So that I can spam buy my set of colorful backs! :3 ^~^

And also, question. How the hell do you guys ever get perfect screen protector installs? I mean Ive been doing them since the days thing plastic film screen protectors on resistive WinMo styli touchscreens. And I have never, cross my heart and I mean it, ever been able to get a good install on, without any of the bubbles or dust or air pockets getting in the darn way. :(
