When in vibrate only mode it vibrates so softly that I have been missing it 9 out of 10 times.

Also, when in ring + vibrate mode, it just vibrates once between rings and that too is very soft and if your phone is set to low volume and ringtone is long, it will vibrate once at the start and then a low volume ring for a very long time increases the chances of missing the call.

Any solution, workaround, or hopes of this getting fixed somehow??

Other than this love my Lumia 830.

True. My old HTC Desire X used to vibrate like crazy!! This guy just vibrates once. I like how the vibration is soft but would love it to extend throughout the ringing.

Just got an 830 from Bell, unfortunately it reboots every 2 minutes when not in use and when in use it reboots at random intervals. I've looked for power settings thinking maybe something odd is going on but don't see a whole lot to mess with. When the phone is plugged into a power source it does not reboot ay all. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a hardware issue, mine is not low, in fact its loud.
That's what I'm thinking. But I recall a review elsewhere saying they seemed to have low volume on theirs too.
But so far everyone else here seems to be okay with their in-call-speaker (the one you put your ear against).
The bottom loud-speaker is amazingly loud though.

I really think you have a defective device. Try a soft reset yet? I can't even keep the volume on max most times because it's too loud. About as loud as my 1520 was, and that was the loudest (and clearest) loudspeaker of any phone I've ever owned.

My 830 died yesterday!

I was playing a game and it switched itself off! Turned on once after and showed a big battery symbol with a single red bar and then nothing!!

Plugged into my wall charger and nothing. Tried the soft and hard reset and nothing. I left it charging overnight hoping something will happen but still nothing!!

Took it to a Nokia Care centre today. They got it working by boost charging the battery to 4%. They said that my battery was completely dead and when I asked why it wouldn't charge with my normal charger, they just shrugged. :O I left it at that and am home now, will try charging my phone to 100% and soft-reset the phone.

Yes I noticed this. This is actually the reason I returned the 1520 months ago as it did the same.

That being said, the 830 is a great phone and I've learned to live with the distortion.

I've also learned that there's no such thing as a perfect phone...

After researching online, I see a lot of Lumias have this problem!! I never knew this before. Kind of depressing really.

I'm gonna test it for a couple of days and will go for a battery replacement if I still find any issues.

Lithium batteries do NOT behave well when deeply discharged and it really shortens their useful life.
For longest life (capacity wise) keep them topped as much as possible.

Initially bought the 830 (silver/green) from Fido in Canada, but couldn't get it unlocked so it ended up being returned. Backlight bleeding at the bottom of the display was visible. Didn't seem like there was a gap, but it was not pleasant to look like. I replaced this with a black 830 from TELUS, which doesn't have the issue. The Glance Peek feature is useless if tying to activate via hand gesture. Annoying noise when placed on my 3rd party Qi plates (but not on my DT-910).

I'm getting ready to throw this thing as fast as I can at my nearest brick wall. I'm getting random reboots. At first, I thought that it may be due to restoring from a previous backup file (which was dragged through multiple devices and OS versions, including some Dev Previews). So I did a hard reset and set it up as a fresh device. No luck. It just keeps happening at random intervals. It's particularly annoying to be in the middle of a tracked bike ride to have this happen, terminating my workout session.

Why is Nokia/Microsoft seemingly incapable of releasing good hardware without bugs? I've had so many issues with the 920/928/1020, but ZERO problems with the 520/620/635. I've briefly had the Icon, which I'll admit was problem free, but I really wanted my Glance screen back.

It happened to my 1520 too on a trip. Then a week later just before I was ready to ship it for repair, I put it on my newly bought 635's wall charger, a minute later it started to boot. Since then I searched on line, found a tip and lots of people reported successful: while plug the wall charger in the phone, do a soft reset, namely on 1520, Press and hold Power and Volume button (for 15 seconds) at same time until your phone vibrates. Remember you need plug your wall charger in the phone while you do the soft reset. This will kick start the OS.

Why should that make a difference!?
Random restarts: Everything updated?
I don't have any restarts, maybe it is an app?

Yes, everything is updated. The only apps running in the background now are preloaded + MSN Health & Fitness, which is also a Microsoft app. If any of those are causing the issue, this is unacceptable. Their own apps should not be crashing the OS. Especially when it doesn't happen on my $150 Lumia 635.
