What do you guys think about the viewing angles? When I have my phone for example on a table and I look at it from the right side the display looks awful. Is it normal?

Define awfull, if i look at my 830's screen at near a 180 angle the only effect it has compared to head on angle is to lower brightness and to a lesser degree contrast, colours stay the same regardless of angle, this is down to the technology of IPS LCD, if you compare directly to an oled the oled will keep brightness but colour's will get less then good at extreme angles.
Compared to any other IPS screen the 830 has a very good one, if you know that you love all the pro's and don't mind the con's of oled then choose a phone with an oled display, if you know you love the pro's and dont mind the con's of an IPS then go ahead and buy one with an IPS. It really is that simple. Neither screen type have so far been able to outmatch the other in all areas.

I don't understand the complaints about the viewing angle. I'm able to read all text from any angle and the image looks fine too. What is the problem?

I had Lumia 720 and its viewing angles were so much better than on 830. The viewing angles are good when I turn phone in all directions in my hand but when it's on the table and I look at it from the right side then the colors start to wash out, but only when I look from the right side, they're good from the left side.

No disrespect to anyone, but I never really understood the fuss over viewing angles on a mobile. Why would anyone want to look into their phones in an angle that's not direct?

On my glance screen, there's a battery saver icon next to the time that wont go away. I've tried soft reset and turning glance off and back on again and it still wont go away!

Sometimes the charging icon next to the time can get stuck for me on the glance screen, if it happends i pop it back on charging and off again, then the icon goes away. In your case you could try to turn off the batterysaver mode all together, i suspect it's that one that has gotten stuck rather then glance, glance simply shows what is reported to it.
PS. I'm running latest DP.

Thank you for your suggestions. I turned battery saver ooff and did a soft reset. After the restart, I checked my glance screen and the battery saver icon was still there! I don't know why its doing that. I'm not running the latest DP, I'm actually on stock Denim (8.1 update 1). I suppose that's one of the bugs MS squashed in DP and will soon be released to the general public in the future.

The brightness on this phone is too high compared to my 920. I hope they can tone it down in an update.
Agreed. Also, turning on Battery Saver does not turn off the lights behind the capacitive buttons like it did on my 920. Don't know if this is a new "feature" or a bug, but it is a bit of a bummer for use in a darkened room.

It's called an LCD screen, it will have better brightness then an oled. With that said you can also turn down the brightness profile of the automatic light (a slider with wide setting, darkest is really dark), if you run automatic light you will get much lower brightness in dark enviroment then "manual low". And also with automatic you will get higher brightness then possible with manual setting. (Handy in sunlight)

So in short, don't set manual brightness, it's 3 steps are nowhere near the lowest or highest that automatic can give.

Hi,

Is the camera key on the 830 a bit too soft? I own a Black 830 and found the dedicated camera key a bit too soft as compared to the Lumia 720. Its actually so soft that on occasions you might miss the half press focus and straight away click the photograph.

Thanks!

My RM-985 seems to have a slightly clearer speaker and slightly better display, but it's also randomly rebooted twice in 2 days. My RM-984 on the other hand has never randomly rebooted even a single time in the month I've had it.

How do you know the phone randomly rebooted? I do not notice my 830 ever reboots so far. I have RM-984.

Well, the phone was right next to me at work, and suddenly I heard the vibration and the Nokia logo popped up. It's actually pretty easy to tell if the phone reboots for no reason.

My RM-984 never did it either... wonder if it's just this particular device, and has nothing to do with variant.
