The point is that you are benefitting from a flaw in the server to gain access to software you aren't supposed to have access to and that's exactly how hackers work, find a flaw and exploit it to gain access to things they aren't supposed to have access to. How is what you guys are doing any different from a hacker?

Not only that but what about support, if you are trying to use software designed for another manufacturers device do you have a right to complain when it doesn't work, e.g. Samsung ATIV Beam on a Nokia or HTC device?

Neo, let me start by saying that I agree with you that this is illegal. But WPC is not like a hacker in this situation - it's more like a bulletin board, where someone posted a message. And while WPCentral's rules say that illegal activities are not permitted here, I think that Dave is saying that since the parties that own the IP are not saying anything, WPC is going to take a hands-off approach. I disagree with that approach, but I'm not in the management of the site. I've made my thoughts known.

I wasn't saying that WPC was or is a hacker, I'm asking how is the behaviour of individuals in this matter any different than that of a hacker.

Well, I agree with you. But the powers that be have spoken, so I'm not going to bother with this subject anymore.

This is a very interesting legal and/or moral issue. I can see both sides. Let me mention something that I don't think anyone else has and that is -

In most, if not all cases, we are talking about downloading free apps. No one is loosing money here..(Ok, if you really want to get into the weeds on this, I guess maybe one manufacturer may loose out to another if a buyer doesn't see any more value in their exclusive apps if anyone else one can get them.. But that is taking this a bit far)

Anyway - the proxy method doesn't seem to be working for me. I can get the store via the proxy but I don't see any other apps other than what I get on an 8s

Any ideas?

Wow! We are discussing legality and morality for multimillion dollar corporations huh? Organisations that have been so true, so honest and so straightforward with everyone, I have a tear in my eye while writing this..

C'mon man..what world are you living in? These corporations not only take our money, but also steal our personal information...you many have heard of this company called Google. It is the biggest fraud of them all and they are vacuuming all your personal data and then selling you an device that's worth way less than that price tag.

Just to echo what the guy above me said..no ones losing any money. It's not like a 30$ app we all are distributing amongst ourselves and lovin it...we (luckily) found out a way to get the best of both worlds..and we did.

So quit all the moralising organisations and be happy with what we have found. .

You ask what world we live in? Personally, I live in a world where there is absolute truth, right and wrong, and to quote my dad from when I was a very young child, a world where two wrongs don't make a right.

You didn't get it? I was laughing at the self-proclaimed hacker who couldn't get a connection...

Oh- you didn't get it ? I was being sarcastic because using a proxy is as much "hacking" involved like using a different client mode while browsing. And you said "you made me blow out coke (as in drug) OUT of your nose.

I have to spell everything out kinda ruins it thou

The capitalized Coke that I used indicates a proper noun - a brand name in this case - so not a drug. FAIL.
Blown out my nose as in I was drinking a Coke when I read your hacker claim to fame and busted out laughing.

But yeah, since I had to spell it out....

There is only wrong my friend. Please wake up and smell reality. And yes, your father is right. Aren't they always? ;)

Will you all take your bullcrap elsewhere? This is not a thread to discuss if its right or not to hack your old gameboy color or any of the sort. Gee, enabling a proxy isn't even hacking. Just stop feeding the trolls.
Let me tell you something: Nobody cares about your opinion, unless it's on the appropiate section.

And no, the proxy is not working at the moment.

Lets don't start that troll talk and complaining... okay. I agree its time to get this thread, that is open and will stay open back on track. Please keep all posts beyond this post on topic. The topic is "Now You can install Samsung Or HTC Collection's apps on Your Lumia" lets continue the discussion of this and its use. Thanks
