Person of interest thread

Aww dang that's no good Laura...
You should be able to kick back with a cup and relax.

Maybe these kids will settle down.
They really need to realize what trying own the forum does to other members.

They were lucky it wasn't in the morning before I had my first cup (just kidding)!

He's made another account and is complaining in the 100k thread, I've reported it as I'm on mobile and can't take it further right now. Getting to the point where pping might be necessary

Interesting how he just stepped over Branta's very stern warning and created another account.
He's probably not done yet...

I'm just popping in briefly. I wasn't home this morning and won't be home again until around 20:00 EDT tonight.

Thanks folks for handling this.

Remember he won't see the full warning until his ban expires. So far he only got the short version as reason for ban *if* he tried to login his main account, otherwise he only knows his ban evading account was banned for ban evading..

Now time for someone to make a move on the Android shill-troll. As always the trolls pop up and stay just short of infractions themselves to provoke the platform supporters into something more egregious to collect infractions. It's your site you don't really want me going in hard without knowing the people, but a beer-bet says Salman knows exactly how hard to push the line without getting banned.

I agree totally about Salman...
Often thought he was playing the game very well.
He knows how to back off and go into a period of condescension and slowly ramp up again.
Definitely not a dummy by any means.

We'll see how he reacts to my PM. I have no qualms about banning him if he doesn't behave.

I think another issue is I'm feeling somewhat pessimistic about Windows Phone as a platform myself lately. I'm itching for an upgrade, but I only do high-end, and it seems like all the devices will be cheapo low-end.

It's hard to be a cheerleader for team Windows Phone at this point.

I'm pretty sure Salman will align to your advice Laura.
Seems like it's working already.

I can see the disappointment with no full featured devices offered too.
Being a bargain hunter type that settles for less I often overlook how many who want top end feel.

I'll agree that Microsoft isn't getting with it when it comes to updated phones.
It is really tough to make excuses for what is going on in this end of market lately.

Been stated more than once in the trenches that Microsoft seems lost :(

Dont' worry. I'm not going anywhere. I just want a new high-end for my birthday (which is next June)! However, I think I'll have something by then.

I know you have a 925, which isn't a cheap device.

I need something that supports Glance and Qi and isn't a phablet.

I remember when WP7 first came out, there were TONS of phones to chose from. Obviously, as a long time AT&T user, I have always had a decent WP selection: Samsung Focus, the great little LG Quantum (the first WP I ever played with), that neat HTC Surround that was the audio phone before audio was cool. Then Mango devices came: HTC Titan, Titan 2, the Sammy Focus S, and the Nokia 900. Then- The 920. All fun devices, all top end WP's.

Now.... we wait. Verizon has offered a ton of fun, but really the options have stopped. The irony is that with all those other devices, the software lacked a ton. Now, the software is about amazing, but the hardware is lacking.

I totally understand Laura. Phones are new toys and tools all rolled into one, and when we get bored, it is hard to not get a little drained. For what it is worth- how do we think CrackBerry moderators feel? They can't even GET the new device that has everyone excited in the Passport.

Lumia 830? I picked one up recently. Thin, good battery life, glance, qi, nice camera, no overheating, great build quality. In many ways it does look, feel and behave like a high end device, in an Apple-ish sort of way... apparently coming to Verizon too.

Anyway, I think Saruman (easier to remember than his real username), can be annoying as hell. To many, his Android peddling on WPC feels like he's kicking us when we're already down. Still, I often find him more reasonable than many of our own.

I think in Saruman's case, we need to differentiate between him just stating facts, and him asserting his own pro Android agenda. We probably need to get tougher whenever he puts on his missionary hat.

So about this "we hate WP apps" thread (okay, not it's name, but close enough):

I renamed it http://forums.windowscentral.com/wi...windows-phone-apps-need-most-improvement.html simply to keep it a little more civil then the term "pathetic" that was in there. Also, I cleaned the thread, removing some uncomfortable banter between Karthik Naik and salmanahmad (thank the Good Lord for Copy and Paste). I also sent a PM to both, asking them to tone it down or let me know if there was a personal issue that needed to be resolved.

Saruman came back again as corvus splendens, which was taken care of. Then he came back as Lumia Lumia - banned him and pp banned him for that too.

Persistent isn't he.

Wow! I never had any idea of all the variety in the beginning. The first 2 Windows Phones I knew about were the HTC Titan 2 and Nokia Lumia 900. It wasn't until CES 2012 that I discovered Windows Phone. I was looking to switch due to waiting for BlackBerry too long.

You're right though. The last BlackBerry I liked was the Z30, which wasn't for AT&T. I'd be out of luck now with BlackBerry since they don't have any new touchscreen devices. Passport doesn't do anything for me, since I'm all about touchscreens now.

AT&T used to be the same in terms of getting the best high-end BlackBerry. They got the Bold 9000, and Verizon got the Storm, which was so bad CrackBerry had a special forum just for Storm users (Storm Rants & Raves). That forum was a nightmare for the mods back in the day.

My cousin had a Storm. He went Android afterwards since Verizon still didn't have iPhones and he wouldn't touch another BlackBerry. He still uses Androids now, since he became accustomed to Android.

He (Saruman) came back as Lumia Nine and now he's gone again - I wonder what his motivation is here?

Saw that.
You beat me to it...
Like Laura and Branta noted all he had to do was wait out the original 3 days off.

Must really need his WPC fix.
Very sad when this is all you have to do.
