Pictures/Videos taken with your 920!

My default as of now has been "Backlight" and ISO set to 100 (100 when you have good light, 800 for low light), I also try to avoid the flash if possible. If you need a little more light you can bump exposure values, 2 if you need more light and -2 if you need less light. White balance is dependent on your location of course but auto seems to a decent job most of the time. As a general rule the flash ruins color and depth of field so if you can avoid it do so, that's not always possible though. I haven't run into a lot of situations where my settings don't work though. Of course, as soon as I start to lose daylight I start shooting in night mode.

I like your idea of sharing settings though. What works best for everyone?

Absolutely amazed by the OIS. I have a mount for my phone that attaches to the windshield via suction cup. Recorded the trip home from work just for fun. Thought the picture would be extremely jumpy from harsh roads, speed bumps, whatever but the video is very steady. Even when you can see the arm of the mount jumping around the video of surrounding objects (road, grass, other cars) is great.

Just picked up a Lumia 920, Im pretty impressed with night/ moving shots. much better than my 4S.

Coming from using a HTC Inspire, which died, leaving me with a Sharp FX+, these pictures look incredible.

Hey Guys,

I am starting a series, on my Flickr account "Aspect+Impact", I added couple of old photos from my iPhone, but recent photos are now from Lumia 920. Here is the link to my Aspect+Impact Link: Aspect+Impact - a set on Flickr

Photo that I took and most impressed with the Lumia 920 is as follow:

wanted to capture the reddish sky but i didn't have enough time to play with the settings so i just used backlight mode (everything else auto) since i wanted to capture the trees more.
slightly edited in Nokia Creative Studio. (a bit of saturation n sharpness)
and resized down to 1280px.
not the best quality, but the colors are perfectly captured.

Would be nice if people posted their pics with the settings that they used, would be really informative for people trying to make best use their camera and dont know how :P

I'm not going to lie.

I returned my L920. I missed my "apps" on Android.... But, even with a 13mp Sony Xperia TL.... I was in ****. I was charging battery THREE times a day. And photos were SO blurry. ALL the time.

So, I went and re-exchanged for another L920. - I guess I just needed the reassurance?

I'm beginning to look like I weigh 400+ lbs with all of these food photos, no?

This was taken when it was snowing the other day ... all Auto Settings and no Editing... and shared to my computer with the new PhotoBeamer app ...

I love this phone, but the camera is utterly disappointing. Everything else is perfect, so why can't they get the camera right???

For reference sake, here's two shots of the same scene. One is with my new 920, the other with my SIII. You tell me which is better...

920:

SIII:

While I like the more saturated colors on the 920, the detail is awful. Look at the little tree to the right compared to the SIII picture. Or the building on the right. It's literally like you've taken a cartoon brush to the picture and softened everything up.

I'll probably return the 920 and wait for this to be fixed with a software update. I absolutely love the rest of the phone, but the camera is important to me (I not only use it for personal use, but also to take photos for my job. Clarity in the pictures I take is important and this is obviously a step back from my SIII). There's no doubt I want a WP8 device, but at this point, with this camera, it just isn't going to cut it for me.

*edit* I forgot to mention, both of these pictures were taken with both cameras set to auto (everything). This is out-of-the-box performance without any tweaks.

OttawaMan, this bugs me too. We need an option to email full res images. I think the only way to get full res images off without actually plugging it in and transferring is uploading to skydrive. Just make sure you have photos set to best quality in settings.

Settings>Applications>photos+camera>SkyDrive

Then you can upload images to your skydrive and get a share link from there.

That "Best Quality" setting is for Auto Upload only and it says "needs Wi-Fi" . If you manually "save to SkyDrive" from the camera app or the pictures hub it will always be uncompressed even over the air. I have found no difference in file size over WiFi vs OTA.
