Oh wait...

Fair enough, i just don't get the mentality that a company should give away their products for free... The argument that" ms is marketing it as laptop replacement" is not a reason why Billy Bob should get it for free.
When it comes to that it seems that it's kind of issue for people because Microsoft only showed the surface with the keyboard attachment. Most people would think it all came together as one product since that's the way it's marketed. It's like going in to buy an Xbox one with Kinect only to find out the Kinect is a separate product that cost extra.
I certainly don't expect a quality accessory like the Type Cover for free, and I think generalising people's sentiments that way is rather superficial. The crux of the pricing issue, in my opinion, is not how much the product is worth but how far Microsoft is willing to go to gain a foothold in a segment where it currently has miniscule market share. In a vacuum, the Surface Pro 3 and optional Type Cover are worth every penny. In the real world with established competing products and layman consumers, Microsoft has to work very, very hard to convince the buying public to switch to this new product which has the potential to change both the way they work and the weight of their bags, and the current pricing, justified or otherwise, is just not helping.Everyone who is saying it should be bundled is basically just saying that they want something for free.
Unfortunately that is not a fact, and to assume the Surface might enjoy the same treatment Apple products get in the marketplace simply on the basis of perceived quality would be na?ve. Microsoft simply does not have the branding clout that contributes to Apple product sales.Lets face the facts, people will pay for quality. Apple has proved that for years.
Do Xbox's come with controllers?

Again, you are just explaining why one should get it for free.
Market share is MS problem. Their marketshare has nothing to do with whether an individual should pay for an item. If you want to argue that they will sell more by giving it away, i would agree. But then that argument is more about marketshare than it is " it should be bundled because that's what i saw on tv"
You are extremely wrong and this is why. Microsoft spent an hour explaining the lapability of the SP3 and how it was lighter than the macbook air 13. He spent most of the time showing the keyboard and the surface in tandem. It was the main part of the marketing release video. The iPad was never mention and neither were any other tablets. Now if he would have talked about the SP3 on its own and at the end shown the colored type covers then yes I can see it not coming in the package but thats not the case. They aren't giving anything away, they are full filing the advertising that was given to us. The front page of microsoft.com has a SP3 with a blue type cover attached. This is Microsoft's biggest chance to have industry leading hardware and software but the price needs to be right. I real hope this product makes it. View attachment 67436

It's all a matter of marketing and presentation. Maybe if they just would've included the keyboard in the price as one bundled piece we wouldn't be having this conversation even if the price was higher lol. But as of right now A two thousand dollar laptop that can't be upgraded, doesn't have dedicated graphics card, only one USB port, and no keyboard but tries to make up for that by being thin and having a touch screen and a pen is not exactly a good price trade off for a lot of people. And this is based off of how it was presented.Right, and now they are debundling the kinect and the XBOX one price without the kinect is reduced. So by the same token, if the keyboard was bundled with the surface, the price would reflect that, and buyers would in fact be paying for it. But thats not what some people here are suggesting. They are saying throw in the keyboard at that same cost so they dont have to pay extra. That is the same thing as wanting something for free.

What you're not understanding is that it's NOT a laptop. It can be if you wanted it to be sure. It can also be a tablet if you wanted it to be.
Based off of what you're saying I could say, Well I could get a desktop computer with more RAM / dedicated graphics / easier to fix / cheaper to repair, but if I'm looking for portability than I wouldn't be looking at a desktop would I?
Here's the thing. If you want to compare to anything it would be an ultrabook. NOT A LAPTOP Ultrabooks are commonly known to be non-up-gradable in parts. I can use my Surface Pro in tablet mode when I'm at work and I use the stylus for notes or looking up pricing for customers. Do you really think I'd be lugging around a laptop for that? Nope.
The idea is that I can make this as light and portable like a tablet and STILL have Ultrabook functionality. There are a LOT of benefits that the surface provides that other ultrabooks don't quite offer. Are they beneficial to everyone? No cause we all have our own needs.

Lmfao. It it's indeed a sad world. So in the end, if only ms would have said:
price A = surface + keyboard
Instead of:
Surface = price S
Key board = price KB
Therefore, S+KB = Price A
Then everyone would rhave been okay paying the price A? If that is all it would have taken, then MS didnt do a very good job of the message. However, if the human race does not have the sense to see how these both arrive at the same place (price A)...tis a sad world.
Its a table with a keyboard and thats all it is. Im not going to come her and say its the greatest thing ever when its not packaged correctly. Other than for people who like the newest toys from, for some reason the company that they love.
Some people have a huge difficulty with products that don't fit into perfectly square molds. But its confusing... Come on. You are just showing you have no understanding of the difference between a tablet and tablet PC. So if a $100 dollar phone came with an attachable keyboard it would be a laptop by your definition. Give up the argument. It was lost from the beginning. Its a tablet PC. It runs full os. It simply allows you to have the portability of a tablet with laptop power and functionality I a full fledged os. Yes you get to choose which keyboard you want. That's called customization. And thin laptops/ tablet PCs always have a premium. Deal with it , accept it, the world will not end because a product is innovative and doesn't fit your preconceived notions of what it must be.then its a tablet and no tablet is worth that much. They are positioning it against the MacBook Air but without a keyboard it doesn't compete.
