WC 1M Post Challenge - You Ready?!

"It's hard to explain watching the decrease in volume of people in the places I walk through."

To help put a bit of this into perspective...

I ride the busiest line in the MTA to work, which runs through lower Manhattan - in particular, by Wall Street. The sheer reduction in the number of people at one of the busiest transfer points in the system in that area has been stark. Even the number of people who get off at the Wall Street stop I go through has been significantly slashed.

This line I ride also goes through quite a few of the heavy transfer points in the system in Manhattan. Traffic is down by at least half.

It's a hell of a thing. And it gives images of empty spaces where one is accustomed to seeing large crowds of people so stark.

is real.

It hadn’t really hit me until this morning. I started my day with a flat tire, no big deal. Even though the tires on the Hummer weigh a ton, it’s nice to have a full size spare. It set me back about 25 minutes which I thought would translate into an hour and a half with I-95 traffic anytime after 6AM.

I arrived at my office 5 minutes late, that’s it. It felt like a Sunday morning on the interstate. Schools are not shut down, only universities. The Miami Heat don’t employ that many people now with the NBA being suspended. I don’t get it.

The ONE time I forget to put "yuge sarcasm alert" in there you're all over it like Pelosi during the last State of the Union speech...

(yuge sarcasm alert)
You missed the comment about they plane tickets... (Hence I got the sarcasm)

I haven't noticed any difference in my commute yet. Last Saturday when I was in Paris it didn't feel much different. It's possible it will be different now.

I know things are changing here bit by bit. They're now asking about my internet connection so I can work from home if necessary.

So yeah. I get that feeling things are going change here soon.

Lots of the sport franchises use mostly seasonal workers. That's why all sports, especially college are screwed.

One of the most annoying auditory things to deal with is someone who over overuses inflections in conversation. Makes me want to listen to Mr. Clue scratch his fingers on a pane of glass for relief.

As you said MIA, the effect is real sadly. A lot of people work those jobs so they all don't have a job. Opening Day is in question for baseball. I'm saddened (for those workers and it being questioned).

In a weird way, it worked out that I haven't done any concerts yet. Right now, the one I want to go to is in July.

Again I say that I want this to end and break soon for everyone involved.

We got asked to start working from home as of today. There was a stampede at the eBar for VPN tokens, USB drivers, keyboards, mice, monitors etc.
I am thinking starting tomorrow it might be better to come into work when there is no one.
Am I the only one with the contrarian point of view?

It sounds like it would be less annoying to come in.

I'd go in too with no one around.

My sport has been delayed for 2 weeks and Spring Training is canceled. Safety first but a bummer too.

Waiting to see what the French President is going to say...
So way too much to cover but in general...

Work home if you can.
Schools and universities closed as of Monday.
Parents will be compensated.
Public transport will continue to work
Don't take public transport unless you have to.

Talk of economic help packages and things about how the market shouldn't be a driver for everything.

Lots of other stuff about working together and solidarity.

A lot more informative and realistic them anything that comes out of 45s mouth.

Better than what's going on in the UK.

Still no lock down but it's possibly coming in the future.
