I've tailored it so that it lasts 16-18h with my typical use, as in all day without having to "save it". I have a 920 and consider my usage medium, but I dont play games on my phone which is one major saver. I have BT and NFC turned off, pretty much everything else on, as I have nothing that uses BT or NFC in active use.

These are very impressive, I'm coming from Android and if I just browse a lot, my battery in my EVO 3D is finished in under an hour.
(it's a 1750mAh battery)-as a result I have purchased 2 external batteries, a 6000mAh and a 5200mAh...it would be nice to no longer have to walk around with extra batteries. A few times when I had my phone charging, it gives me a notification telling me that more power is being used than the power going into the phone, it's an absolute joke.

^^^^how much do you use the 510 for it to last you 4-7 days Jay ?

Lumia 720 owner here. Usually I get 36-48 hours of moderate use. But with solid heavy usage, around 24 hours or slightly more. The 720 is easily the best WP in terms of battery life IMO.

Lumia 820 - I can kill my battery in 4-5 hrs with heavy use. Moderate use I can get 9-10 hrs. If I'm really careful with light use, I can get 16-18 hrs.

I have the similar results with a Lumia 710 running Windows Phone 7.8 as you do with the 820. But the 710 comes with a measly 1300 mAh battery. I can kill the battery in 3 hours by playing YouTube videos over WiFi.

There appears to be no logic to my 920's battery life. I'll have days I don't use it and it has super, incredible, amazingly fast, massive drain. Then other days with heavy usage the battery life is great.

Thats why I don't really like a phone that you can't swap the battery out. It's easier to carry a spare battery then a charger even if it is the rechargeable kind. This one reason I'm selling the 1020 but it's not the top reason

I've noticed the same thing with this 1020. There are days I don't use the phone much and battery life is terrible and days I can make a bunch of calls and stuff and still have tons of battery left. Now I do feel some days it's because my phone is switching to a 4g tower that I only can get on somedays here at the house and some days I don't see it switching. If I would try the trick I've seen posted to force it not to look for a 4g signal I think it would help but there are other things I just can't use to on the 1020 so I just want to sell it and not worry about. Trouble is so many are going to non removable batteries that it gets harder to find them

Lumia 720. ~2 days with heavy usage, and upto 4 with light to med usage. It really depends on what you're doing with it. But the battery on 720 is excelent imo.

If battery life is what you demand from windows phone than your best option is Lumia 720, my daughter`s one manages to stay "alive" after 3 days moderate use at least
My Lumia 925 with the same battery is capable of at least 2 full days light to moderate usage, sometimes even 3 days off charge but with everything on strict control, e.g. no Bluetooth or Wi-Fi when not needed and no 3-4G when not needed
