Will US Cellular ever get a decent Windows 8 phone? I bought a Galaxy S4 and I absolutely hate it. My only choice of another phone is the pending Moto X, but that is still a MEH phone. I am sick of android and want a high-end HTC WP8 or Nokia phone. I would even buy a midranged. I looked at the Windows phones on US Cellular and thought they were all blah. I don't care for Samsung products anymore, so I just cannot find anything worth trading this phone off for.

US Cellular got bought by some one... Sprint I think? I had a converstation with some one at my job as I was ringing them up, they said something about having a certain amount of time to transfer their number and service to other carriers. Best Buys I've gone into here offer 100 dollar credits for trading your US Cellular phone in.

This is in the chicago area.... idk what its like else where. I would honestly move to Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile. Verizon is by far the best in service, deep in the subway tunnels of Chicago I was able to get 3-4 bars of 3G. T-Mobile is great in the suburbs (where I live), questionable at times with in Chicago. Havent used AT&T in 6 years, cant comment them.

All of those carriers have great windows phones.

Yeah, I read the article you provided. It looks like they just bought out the Chicago and St. Louis area in May. I live in Omaha which is not very big. i joined in July, but now I am regretting it. I left Verizon due to the overpriced plans. US Cellular has unlimited data for 4G, so i want to stay if possible.

I don't think you'll be able to keep that unlimited data the next time you get a subsidized phone. They just brought contracts back and shared data plans, pretty much exactly in line with Verizon's. Sounds like you got yours just under the wire.

I just switched my family to Verizon. Part of that was the device selection, but the biggest factor was data service had just dropped through the floor the last several months. USCC has no timetable for 4G service around here (central Kansas), yet Verizon has had LTE for nearly 18 months here.

Lovin' my Lumia 928 from Verizon.....

A few days old, but doubtful. Uscc turned down a wp8 phone a few months back. Idk why. They are doing the iphone thing here soon, but with all of the issues they are having lately, I hope they aren't bringing the iphone to try and get back some customers they lost before, when they turned that down. The only other option it seems is they are stuck up samsungs **** so far thats all they care to talk about or sell. Imo samsungs are horrible. The best phone they carry is the x. But as I see it they will go under with in the next couple years, and fully become sprint. Just my opinion. And glad I left uscc last year hated them

USC will be going the way of the dodo soon. The Chicago sale is just the beginning. They are retreating from competitive markets but the competition will keep coming to them. The business model of avoiding competition just doesn't work.

Yea - New carrier is what I did. Love my 928 on Verizon. If you are really stuck with USCC though, nab the Moto X. Or the Note 3. I would really stick with the X though as Sammy's radios on USCC seem to have perpetual problems. They have an unofficial recall going on S3's - certain revs of that device can FUBAR USCC's network at the tower.

I would strongly advise you against getting any Android device. It's just an awful operating system. I'd switch carriers and get a Windows Phone, get the Samsung Odyssey (not a bad phone at all), or stick with a flip phone before I went back to Android. Worst 3 years of my life, that was.
