I am just amazed with the fluidity of Windows OS. Wp10 will sure solve most of app issues.
Coming back to the question- yes, my next phone will be a Windows phone. Android starts lagging and iPhone is too dumb and costly.
I just made my wife move to Lumia 640xl since her 2 year old iPhone 5 was getting hardware issues. Initially she hated tiles but now she is liking Windows platform.

I hope so. I've got a Lumia 535 and a late 2013 Moto G, and I enjoy much more the MS experience. I hope that W10M shuts a lots of mouths wishing WP to dissapear.

Depends on the price of the new flagships. I was always annoyed with android and found it a pain to use. The everyday use was fine but if it had any issues, it felt like I was dealing with a desktop PC instead of a phone. The iphone is easy to use and I don't need the android advanced features. However, the price of the iphone is ridiculous. I would be looking at the 6+. It comes with 16gb, which is a joke. So, I would need to upgrade to 64gb for an additional $100. That would make the price $849. Buying these phones is like leasing a car. They hide the true cost of the phone in the installment payments. Spending $849 for a phone is stupid, even if spread the payment over 24 months. So, if the price of the 940xl/950xl is right, I will definitely buy it. I could care less about google services. I can still watch a youtube video and I still get the email from my secondary gmail account. Those are the only google services I need. The Microsoft services work great for me. I can access my bank through the browser. The only thing I can't do is deposit checks with the camera, but I can still do that at home with the Ipad Air I have. At least that Air will get some use that way since it mostly sits around and only my 10 year old son uses. I couldn't care less about social apps like snapchat. I have some good games and they fill those times I am bored and the windows phone OS is overall is a great OS that is easy to use and doesn't require much maintenance. If I can save $200-$300 on the phone, I will easily deal with the inconvenience of some missing apps, If the price anywhere near Apple, then I will get an Iphone.

Yes. I bought an iPhone 6 in December to replace a 920. I lasted five months before I sold it to buy a 930. Better than iPhone - cameras, wireless charging, call quality, pinning websites to start ( my building society page is better than the iOS app), the keyboard, predictive text, one drive, people hub. iPhones are polished kit but I found it old-fashioned. MS is cool and it just works although make updating easier instead of waiting for carriers and market the phones, please.

It took HTC less than a week to repair (damage from falling out of my bag onto concrete, not a defect) and return my One M8 For Windows. Hopefully OEMs other than Microsoft will continue to release models for Windows Phone too.

I would definitely buy a Windows Mobile phone. The real question is this: will my carrier sell one?

Been wondering the same, haven't seen anything up to this point that'll entice them compared to the past and their receptiveness this go-around will be a good gauge for me, as to where WP is heading in the short-term.

This is something I am on the fence about. My two year contract with AT&T expires on Oct. 4th and I have been rockin' a Lumia 1020 for these last two years. While I love my time with windows, I have fallen behind on way too many things and it is not just apps.

I came from an atrocious mobile (Samsung Galaxy SII w/Jelly Bean) that scarred my android experience. People say Android is better but my wife has had the moto x for the same time I've had my L1020. At times I play with it and its nice, fluid, and fast......but then it lags, or apps crash, or the damn dialer crashes. That is just unacceptable. I thought about the Galaxy S6 but Android and its OEMs are too unstable.

I tried an iPhone for a couple of days and ugh what a clunky old mess. It was an iPhone 5s with the latest versions of iOs. Don't get me wrong everything worked flawless but man was it cumbersome. No back or home button really sucked. The phone was dull and felt like a dummy phone or a 2006 blackberry. I have never owned an iPhone and I almost came close, but I really do not see the praise for such a mediocre product. Just because it "works". If that's the case everyone would be driving a Toyota Corolla.

As for Windows, its my favorite of the three OS but its lacking way to much. Last night I was on the mobile WebMD on both my wife and my phone and there was a drop down menu that wouldn't even flinch on Windows Phone. I could not open it for the life of me while the Android did it with ease. IE is an awful browser and the others aren't any better. Try PSuniverse.com, never opens on my phone. Then there's the outdated apps or lack there of. My baby's preschool has an app, my university has an app, my damn hospital has an app....that are not available for windows. This, this is my concern about future windows. Too much testing and not enough action. I need a phone now, not coming soon with features getting outdated by the competitors. Make me stay Microsoft, don't force me into a loveless relationship with another company.

Yes I would, I use outlook and word all the time. I actually love Xbox music too. It just works and the camera is awesome. I will also have aback up phone either iOS or Android. I really want this OS to take off I think it has so much potential.

That is a good mention too, websites are a pain the **** to open in IE on windows phone. Way too many sites out there that are unusable. I find this especially with restaurant menus..

I really like windows OS overall the most, but I want some simple apps like even Costco photo app for printing photos at Costco. Or just random store apps that will never be on windows. I'm okay with abandoning windows phone since they are making a better MS experience on iOS and android..i can't do without office and OneDrive on the phone, but both work on iOS..i will miss my 1020 camera, but the 35/month for a 64gb and free upgrade each year makes it a great deal.

MS is too focused on the 3rd world to compete with Samsung and Apple.

I'm close to giving up windows central too...cant we consolidate some of the win10 build posts? Not really news at this point..

the future of Windows Phone or Mobile depends only of few factors
Apps avalaibility, a thing that always the store of microsoft have been poor about it

lack of creativity by part of MSFT to make new apps that be appealing and exclusives, recently i jumped to android with an Sony xperia M2 Aqua and have nice features and some software that is exclusive of sony like the audio recorder that can take advantage of the 2 mics that the device has and even have profiles of recording and allows to do it in stereo or mono, and also wind cut recording i just in here i suggested this feature on windows phone but got bashed by my post.

the lack of will of the operators in import the full portfolio of windows phone or Lumia at least in Chile just this week Movistart started to sell the Lumia 930, too late really.

support by the other operators sometimes is no support at all, by example Antel in Uruguay stopped of bring support to the Lumia 820 so the updates also are never anymore issued , or now in Chile the Lumia 920 still without receive Lumia Denim by part of Entel Chile operator or the 925 already have not seen denim in Movistar Chile and my phone the 820 got it some months ago but by pushing to Claro Chile by twitter/facebook

also now depends or best said hangs the future of windows mobile on the projects Astoria and Islandwood, unfortunatelly and if the developers are up to spent their time for port their apps for our platform and grew up, i hope things goes well there.

already still using my phone the Lumia 820 for take pictures and some things but just would go back to windows Phone when Microsoft show up to everyone not be playing with us their loyal customers that beared an uncomplete OS that just now is starting to grow up just expect that the develoipers be also doing apps to Windows Mobile,

at the end if all the apps were in the 3 platforms would not really matter if choose windows phone, android or IOS would just be the show up now by how well is the OS for run everyday apps

i know this post would be very harsh and many will add darts together the picture but just realized of those little things that makes an difference

by the way i discovered that disqus on android was discontinued by lack of users and company decision, just on windows phone still the app

I'm not arguing with your assessment. (I jump between Android & WP, but I'm on Sprint, so...its slim pickings for WP). However, I would just point out that if MS is to be believed, they intend to ensure that all mobile platforms play nicely with Windows & MS products...and I would submit that MS apps on Android are ahead of WP.

I'm now hanging on the edge, the build on the PC is great so far, but the mobile needs to go
back to the drawing board with the new build 10514 and 10536. The builds have been trying
to install for over 4 days now, and I know I'm not the only one seeing them error out rather then
install. I'm almost at a state where I don't check the phone to see if it got the new build.

The new OS should install without a lot of intervention on the user, for there are several
people who buy the phone without knowledge of having to refresh, hard reset, soft reset, and
other means of getting a new OS to install. After all if Microsoft can please the non technical
user with the phone, word of mouth will get others to buy.

I'm been complaining about new apps that come out that are very useful, but they are not
for the Windows phone. TV channels, banks, city apps are a few. This may be a game
changer for some phone buyers, when they find out the apps are not for Window phones.

I have a BLU WIN HD LTE, I received a video file that the phone wouldn't play, I found that I
have to do a LOT of work in order to convert the file, then could view it. I was about ready to
trade in the phone, I don't recommend the phone for purchase now.:unhappy:

Yep. Will buy another Microsoft Mobile -- be it on a Microsoft phone or other quality phone manufacturer. I like iOS, but prefer the Windows phone mobile UI.

I'm pretty torn.

It's the best OS to use, no doubt. Looks nice and doesn't need expensive hardware to run well. Phones are cheap to buy too.

But so many apps are just Android/iOS
Some examples:

I have a nice Olympus camera that can connect to a smartphone through wi-fi, but not my 735.
Was on a big trip - took loads of nice photos and wanted to put them up on Facebook for my friends to see. Either had to take a second picture with my phone (not as good quality) just for sharing, or go back tot he hotel/hostel, take the card out and stick it in my Surface, convert the RAW to a JPEG and upload from there.
If I had iPhone or Android I could have just shared it right from the camera. Or not have to use the timer for group shots as you can fire the shutter from your phone.

I like cycling. I like the website Strava - use it to post my rides and to create routes to follow. No Windows phone app, so have to record rides on a third party tracker (RunSat), upload the GPX to the their site, download and manually upload it to Strava. Can't follow routes I create either. I can export them as GPXs, but there is no Windows Phone app. I ended up getting an old waterproof Android phone to use as a bike GPS.

One bike has a belt drive. There is an Android/iOS app for setting the tension. Not for me - have to use a guitar pitch tuner.

Talking of guitars, there is an app for my guitar amp that lets you slow down songs and strip out the lead guitar track. You reckon they have a Windows Phone version? HAHAHA

My bank doesn't have an app for Windows Phone. So tomorrow I have to walk in to town to pay in a cheque. If I had an Android or iPhone I could sit on my couch and take a picture.

So, I'm gonna wait and see. I heard that maybe Microsoft will have a way to convert Android apps to run on Windows Phone. Or maybe the Windows 10 Universal apps will pick up....
I'm also a little wary of jumping in too early with Microsoft - had a Lumia 800 (Windows 7.8, gee thanks) and a Surface RT (Microsoft are taking it out behind the shed to put a bullet in its brain right now)

You couldn't be more wrong about a feature like touch ID. Apple does it the best and it transforms security on your phone. No more 4 number pins, no more goofy patterns and high reliability. Hitting the power button also activates touch ID and your phone almost instantaneously comes on. Want to buy something in the Apple App store - just touch the power button. Samsung with GS6 and Note line have followed up a terrible attempt with the GS 5 and have made it work. Sony has it on their latest Experia and Google is going to put it into Android 6.0 with the two Nexuses. Iris scanning may be neat BUT if it doesn't have 95% reliability it is a waste of time and you will revert to a pass code.
