@Joe has done a bad thing by twitting this kind of news. Instead, he should have chosen Microsoft News or Windows sites to announce this kind of news methodically.

Microsoft has great tech personnels but one of the worst in industry occupying the Management chairs. Be transparent but make sure you convey message clearly than conveying in 140 characters.

Microsoft should analyse, learn and adopt or they will fail like no one ever did before.

There is no reason to leave if you are happy with this modern and safe OS. Microsoft will give further Software support and you can buy a backup phone.

That attitude is what makes WM what it is now, there are partners willing to come out with new apps and phones, they turned Nokia a success into a failure, is like if whoever is in charge wants it to be a failure but has been having trouble getting it there because there are loyal WP users like us and many more, I would place this platform on a fresh team with new vision.

Who else is with me? Till the bitter end we stick together, we will make it through, and we know good things come to those who wait.

My 1520 finally crashed and screen shattered, I'm now looking for a 950XL as an upgrade or if I can find an HP x3 for cheap that'll be great too.

I don't think WM is a burning and a sinking ship at all, I just think we're in a transitional phase, and there's absolutely no reason why MS isn't doing something secretly in their Research Lab. They're most likely preparing for the post-smartphone era that's about to unfold in the next couple of years or so. I'm very excited to finally see the "foldable phone" they've been working on for quite some time now, and I'm sure it'll be great.

I would totally understand why you are leaving this platform, and it's absolutely within reason and totally justified, I won't miss you though because I know deep down inside, you've got a special place for WM and you'll eventually come back to us when a new spark has been ignited.

But for us who are staying and sticking through this long haul, we're going to be all right. Everything is going to be all right. We shall make it through and reap the rewards when the time is right.
Windows Central likes to stir the pot. Windows people are LOYAL. We all know WM is dead. We all also know that is because Windows is going for a single OS across the spectrum. We true fans know, and we will stay. Android is for children and IOS is for people with more money than sense. As an "Insider", I have seen the Windows platform change a lot and, it is headed in the right direction.

As a tech geek, I felt the need to keep up during this transitional phase, which is why I currently rock a GS8. However, still after many months, I can't get used to lots of things, and even miss certain things from W10M. So, if and when Microsoft sorts out its mobile business I will be back, hopefully for good. Because I know Microsoft can do so much more, as proven by Surface-line of computers as well as Xbox.

I'm out. Sorry. They have until my 950xl is nigh unusable to impress me with whatever is next. But if they can't get their $#!+ together, I'm going back to the Goog. I don't want to, but it's not like they want us to stay either.

If they would just add telephony to Windows 10, I might just get an LTE Surface and call it a day. I'll have a Bluetooth headset and apps that work. Today I couldn't even get Spotify to play more than 1 sec. of a song. #RIPGroove

After years of pushing WP to friends and family, I have to say no more. My dad is on iOS now, my wife back to iOS and my brother in law moved to Android. My daughter and I still have our Lumia 950's, but soon will no longer as we both have had alot of issues as of late. The only MS product I will continue with is XBOX as that won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

I returned my X3 at MS store :( today. They tried to sell me an S8 :(. I declined the offer. Headed over to TMo afterwards to look at LG V30 and Note 8. Both are long and skinny. My Idol 4S has roughly the same screen width, just not as long. Kind of a turn off for me since I really liked the X3 size / aspect ratio. I also was reminded of why I hated android and left 8 MThs ago. Needless to say, I will be using my Idol 4S for as long as possible. If HP relaunches X3 with android, I would definitely consider making change if same size and free of bloat.

And some 1020's and 650's also in my family...

I do not understand either why some people feel like the immediately need to jump to a different platform, but to each their own I guess. I've been using WM since the 920. I loved that thing it was built like a tank, heck it still looks almost like new. When WM10 came along and the 920 didn't run it well I grabbed a 640, then ended up giving that to my dad when I got a great deal on a 950. Just picked up an x3 to hold me out a while longer and was impressed with features (except problem with SD tray that HP is trying to address). Will probably be selling the 950 on eBay.

That might sound like being a fan-boy but I'm really not. I honestly prefer the interface of WM so much more than the other 2 platforms. I will stick it out probably a year or two longer since just getting the X3 and see what happens then. Really do not relish the thought of having to switch. Hopefully in the meantime MS will unveil some sort of ultra mobile PC to fill the void...

I have owned both iPhone and Android in the past but like WM interface so much more. I detest the lock-in of Apple's ecosystem and every time I have to pick up one of my family members iPhones to do something I cringe trying to stumble around in the app icon graveyard. Every Android device that I have ever owned ended up becoming frustratingly slow over time. Maybe they have improved that but I really don't want to find out. The other issue I have with Android is that unless you are using one of a handful of devices (e.g Pixel, Galaxy) you may be stuck on the OS version that shipped with it never to see an upgrade.

As far as apps go I don't really use a tremendous number of them and have found what I need exists for WM. Granted there are a few times that a company I do business with has something on an app that I can't get on WM but I have used my iPod mini to bridge the gap on those rare occasions. Personally, I would like to see progressive web apps take off where everything can be accessed from one app (a browser) and give a rich user experience that the current platform specific mobile apps provide. The model of an app for this and an app for that ends up with a lot of clutter and confusion on your mobile device over time.

Anyway , I've probably bored everyone to tears so I will end my post here...

I just bought an HP X3 and dock or $250 on eBay. I *love* it! I also switched from Verizon to T-Mobile and I *love* that, too.

I am delighted with the battery life and the fast data and easy hotspot setup, which worked flawlessly on my recent trip to Mexico (no roaming charges!).

I am most surprised by how often the X3 is replacing my Surface Pro 4 in day-to-day usage.

My wife just switched to Android, but I am sticking with Win 10 Mobile.

I have been a very loyal fan of windows phones. I have had 6 windows phone and loved them all. The announcement that Groove music would be shut down was the last straw for me. I made the jump a few day later to Andriod. I went with a Samsung Galaxy S8+ and am really enjoying the experience. The thing that I was not prepared for is how much better all the Microsoft apps are on this OS. It's really embarrassing that they would not support their apps better on their own OS. I became the rebel with all my friends with my windows phone. Well no more..i just feel as though MS really wanted to dump the whole mobile thing and move on.

I'm on TMo and just returned an X3 because of poor signal versus my TMo Idol 4S. Maybe I messed up on the initial setup. WiFi calling did not work which I use my Idol 4S. I did like the X3 though.

You didn't mess anything up. Wi-Fi calling and HD voice don't work on the x3 with T-Mobile. Very very few unlocked phones not branded by T-Mobile have those features. Wi-Fi calling is more prevalent but HD voice is limited to iPhones, Moto G series and the Nexus line.

The bitter end has arrived. And what a bitter end it was. It was inevitable. Microsoft has a habit of leaving people hung out to dry.

If they ever do a Surface phone, it will be too little too late. Come November 3rd, I am out of here.

I tried to stay with Windows phone, I came to the party late and was impressed with Windows Mobile 10, but over the 2 years I used first Windows Mobile 8 and 8.1 and finally 10, I could see that the apps were dying out. Some came back but many left and now I am stuck with my Galaxy S7. I am getting used to it. But I do miss the simplistic way I could do things on my Windows phone. It was easier to make calls and to text on. Some of the features are still not up to par on Android or iOS. But, now that Joe has thrown in the towel, I will do the same. I can only hope that Microsoft comes to their senses and comes up with a surface phone that can run all the desktop apps. Then maybe the developers will enhance some of the features so they work better with a mobile device. But I won't hold my breath.

I am writing this on my Chromebook in protest of using any Microsoft products.
