Use a case mate!! If you dropped an S5 or an iPhone 5S on the same angle under the same conditions I bet you it would've broken. And also, the reason why Apple and Samsung parts are cheaper is because they are more mass-produced than Nokia parts. Seems like the 1520 was too big for you

Yes it was too big in all terms like expensive,repair,finding accessories,etc..but it was disappointing right from the beginning with touch sensitive,battery,reception,windows8,apps,slippery,hangs and the list goes..Touch works very weird..its very sensitive...

It all depends on the angle you dropped the phone at. Before I got my 1520, I dropped my Lumia 900 three times within the first few weeks of getting it because it was my first phone and I was either too excited to hold it and/or just made a stupid mistake. The screen fell flat on the floor from at least three feet and didn't even get a scratch.

I even throw it around and toss it when my contract was near it's end and after I got my 1520. Do you know why I do/did that? I got a case after the first or second time I dropped it.

Stop considering to buy Nokia Lumia 1520 .This is very fragile mobile.If you drop you have to spend 300$ just for screen damage.I spent more than 600$ to buy this and just after 2 weeks it slipped out of my hand and the screen is broken.Now when I contact Nokia center they are saying I have to bear the expenses.When I contact any cell repair shops they say I have to spend 300$ just for screen replacement.
Nokia claimed its very durable and not fragile like samsung/Apple. But it is not the case.It is very SLIPPERY and EASY TO SLIP OUT OF YOUR HAND.
consider before buying this worthless phone.Nokia/Microsoft should also consider maintenance/repair cost. Why anyone can spend 300$ for just screen replacement?Apple/Samsung just costs less than 100$ for the same damage.
Also there are many issues with Nokia Lumia 1520 screen sensitive,hangs and a lot.

YOU are what's wrong with the world, today. Somehow your clumsiness is Nokia's fault?

You dropped your phone & it broke - man up & either fix it yourself or have someone fix it. The reason you can fix some of the better selling phones so cheaply, is there are lots of aftermarket parts available. The price you quoted is a bit steep, seems you exaggerated a bit. Quote on digitizer / LED replacement is $225., still not cheap, but genuine OEM parts.

With all due respect, the quoted post was the STUPIDEST rationale I've ever seen ...
YOU don't deserve to own a Lumia 1520 & give back your man card. Perhaps when you get it repaired, you can get a pretty case with a wrist strap.

Sorry that you broke your 1520, but this post is outrageous! You should never tell anyone to NOT buy anything because of your negligence. Cost repair is irrelevant in your situation. You should've done some research to find the lowest cost of repair. You could've also done it yourself, if you're willing.

Phones are costly and repairs are very costly. Luckily I've never broken a phone, even tho I'm clumsy and dropped every last phone I owned.

I own two 1520s black/red. The matte black is definitely more slippery than the red.

You're absolutely right...Nokia should be responsible because you don't have enough common sense too know how to hold onto your phone....sheesh lol

Also since it is one of the largest screens available and it cost more than a 4" iPhone your po'd about it...get a grip(literally) and get over it...Put a nonslip case on it and a glass screen protector on it and hold onto better...noone is going to have any sympathy for your screw ups.

In Finland repair of glass and screen of Samsung S5 costs about USD 307,-. In most of cases the glass and screen are glued together.
iPhone 5s screen costs USD 200,- and back glass USD 245,-.
So take insurance and do not whine.
