Honestly? Because nobody else had one and I was intrigued by the design of the UI. I have a habit of backing the underdog, for better or worse.
Secondly, I was sick of Android, and the amount of bloat and lag present. iOS was dull, static and predictable. Android was slow, ugly and unreliable. Windows Phone seemed exciting, fresh and new.

I'm glad I made the switch, Ive never been this attached to an inaminate object before, it borders on unhealthy :winktongue:
I'll be upgrading to another Windows Phone when the time comes and I have to retire my trusty and beloved 8X.

I choose wp8 cuz fastest os over 3G than my galaxy s3..Android load more than 20 second before it play video online. Unlike wp8 just one tap play just milliseconds in any online streaming...

does your wp device run 3G or LTE ?

secondly, did you only notice an improvement in streaming speed or everything such as browsing the web, apps loading online content + app updates and streaming music and video ?

I also bought an orginal Xbox 13 years ago, almost solely because my friends all had PS2s. I suppose I like to go against the grain. /hipster

i chose WP8 mainly cause I was tired of my HTC Mytouch devices crapping out (hardware wise) and slowing down on me with Android. It became annoying when I would hit my home button only to be taken there after 5 seconds.
As a musician I was thinking of getting the iPhone 5 before they revealed specs and all, but it wasn't very impressive so WP8 seemed to draw me in as I like being different and trying out new and exciting things.

I was a hardcore android fan, but since s3, it sucked balls. iOS seems to be phone for the rich, which makes apple a narrow minded company. WindowsPhone came in with a completely different UI, can be trusted as its from MS, super smooth, super secure.

I got a Windows Phone because of all the new innovation that the platform has made recently. The momentum that this platform is receiving will be very difficult to stop. Android and Apple are stale and has failed to innovate lately.

I chose WP over the competition because I love Nokia, I want a device from Nokia, I don't have money for an iPhone and I hate the issues that Android has (also I hate any kind of lag when I know the hardware running is capable of avoiding it).

And WP looks gorgeous, of course.

Because I was fed up with Android, having gone back to it from WP7 (Most of you probably know that I was using WP from it's first release), and BB10 only had 2 apps that I was using on Android listed on BlackBerry AppWorld. I would have gone with the Z10 otherwise.

As this thread states Windows and not Windows Phone specifically I've always used Windows from Windows 2.0, although I do use Linux on my Raspberry Pi and my aging Centrino laptop, and as such have a lot of applications for the platform so switching would be a very expensive thing to do. That and I like Windows 8.1 and RT 8.1 being able to share apps with up to 81 devices running either OS, and the ability to share settings with said devices as well.
