Your most exciting feature you want on windows phone 8

I want actual multitasking. I hate that for example I'm writing a text and go home, then open the messaging hub, the text is not there, I have to go back again. This doesn't happen with IE but every other apps closes down when I open the notification again.
The actual problem here is that all third-party apps and majority of first-party ones are instructed to begin a new instance when they are launched, instead of resuming their previous state. Visual Studio automatically compiles with this setting, and it can be easily edited if you have the XAP:

Resumable XAPs: All the details, plus a nice tool - xda-developers

I'd like to see Windows Phone automatically save a draft of messages on a per-thread basis when you navigate away from Messaging as an option, and there can be a simple "clear" button when you return to the thread.

I am surprised to see that better notification handling/ notification center was not mentioned in any of the posts. Coming from iOS, I found the notification handling in Windows Phone is severely lacking. I would like to have a preview of the email (toast notification) regardless of the screen I am currently on. I would also like to see all my notifications in a central place (like iOS or Android). I am eagerly waiting for Windows 8 to make improvements in this area.

I would like to turn off notifications completely or a guest mode, so dirty texts or emails don't pop up when my little brother is playing an online game.

Your little brother refuses! :D

@topic:
I'd like to see more customization, give developers and users more options, they're not as dumb as MS might think. Just require the user to actively set 'risky' options.
Apart from that I really want to see basic business stuff as quite mode, profile scheduler as well, but as they are going for business customers with WP8 I'm sure they will at least bring that via one of the first updates.

Local syncing of contacts w/o the Clouds
Complete field similarity with Outlook Contacts
More Functions on Excel and Word
Must have Bluetooth HID for keyboards.

I just want a camera that's at least as good as the missus' iPhone 4s.

Admittedly my HD7 has one of the worst camera's available on WP7, but still, i need something that takes good pictures, and takes them quickly.

Its almost impossible to take pictures of my kids with my phone, as they never stop moving, yet its a piece of cake with the iPhone.

that is a good point! my girlfriend's son likes playing all the games I have on my DVP but, I'd really rather not have a 9 yr old boy seeing notifications of texts/emails that I might get while he's playing those games (and I'd REALLY like to be able to lock him out of the rest of the phone completely so he's not nosing around in my photo albums and message history when I'm not watching).

I wish 7.8 was here already so people can see with their own eyes that legacy devices aren't getting killed off and WILL get app support

I want -
Full Bluetooth so I can send files to any other phone.

Proper support sending of contact details.

Use any tone I want for notifications / alarms - including personalised notifications per contact.

Notification hub of somekind so if i do not see it flash up i can look at notifications.

Ability to backup / restore phone whenever i want.

Some kind of easy way to transfer my apps and settings to a new phone.

Incremental ringtone volume - starts quiet and gets louder - used to used this all the time on Nokia years ago.

Simple stuff really and all sorely missed.

What I really want to see with Windows Phone 8 is
A dock with a hdmi out that will plug into a 20 in monitor
Bluetooth keyboard and mouse
So when I get home I can Dock my phone and now I will have a Windows RT computer
I don't see how this is not possible since the same chip that will be in the phone will be on the WinRT Tablet.. The only issue would be disk space but with a 16 gig phone they will have 16 gig WinRT Tablets..
I So want to see my phone become my PC at home..

I Believe this feature would Kill any talk about the IPAD or ANDROID Droid Tablets.. being better than a windows phone or tablet.
and it needs work out of the box. the dock would have hdmi out and Network out maybe 2 usb ports for keyboard or mouse and maybe one for storage ?
This needs to happen first from Microsoft and not APPLE or Android even though android tried this with the laptops that they plugged into In the back but it was not easy and flawless. like it can be with windows..
What are your thoughts of my Idea?

I would like to see the ability to attach multiple files AND multiple file types to emails. My internet access is smartphone only, and I would love to be able to email resumes, for example. Or send my mom more than one pic of her grandkids at a time...

I feel your pain on the HD7 camera... Pureview is coming. Just be patient.

I'm able to send multiple pics in an email

most of my features are actually in response to nintendo for a cause to bring more competition between microsoft and them. but some are not
1. picture password
2. boot-up email login. syncs everything between your xbox 360, windows 8 pc, and windows phone 8 device.
3. pre-loaded nike+, removable as always. but encourages people to exercise for xbox live avatar clothing and achievement.
4. avatar plaza, pass by xbox 360's, windows 8 machines, and windows phone 8 devices to meet and greet windows users along the way. make friends, make foe's, or start a windows movement in your community.
5. built in augmented reality api for bing search. in other words nokia lenses is now baked in
6. built in digital television tuner becomes standard, so does HD radio
7. video chat anywhere on windows phone with the live popup windows, akin to the active calling notification.

i really want to see wp8 devices with
on screen buttons (yeah i know there is a form for that already)
swipe away windows in multitasking
live app preview in multitasking
native file explorer
picture password log in
natural language detection in tell me
enter live id at bootup, after that everything with windows 8 syncs with your wp8 device. including backup
apps compatible with your wp8 and xbox device you download on windows 8 automatically download to those device (kinda like google play) but only if you allow it
book to be sold on windows marketplace.
people app has the ability to add contacts by taking picture of business card.
cross compatibility with android beam and wp8 nfc.
ie 10 needs to sync with desktop in the cloud
3 way multiplayer gaming. play against people on xbox 360, pc, and windows phone 8 with on one game.
use your avatar for the people hub. make it more than just gaming. people that pass you by should meet your avatar in a plaza. make friends, strike a conversation, meet your next big competitor on xbox live. i don't think nintendo has a copyright on this.
Digital tv tuner should be standard akin to fm radio. upgrade fm radio to hd radio.

VIDEO CHAT. you know how you can always get back to your call anywhere from your windows phone? how about being able to see your friend chat with you anywhere from your windows phone as well.
skype should allow for multiple way video chat for free for all windows phone users.
temperature should optionally be displayed next to battery status.
nike plus should be bundled with every windows phone. of course its removable if you choose. deep integration with xbox live. this would encourage people to exercise more in exchange for avatar cloths and achievements.
windows phone needs an augmented reality apk built in for bing search.

thats all from me folks

oops. i guess i forgot that mods have to approve first and i was getting impatient so i did 3 post within the same time. my bad. technically i am old enough to drive and have a girl friend. but i don't have either right now. inner high functioning autistic mindset is getting to me i guess

but really its summer break and the forums are a great way to burn some time.
now back on topic: i demand full integration and i will have it. i put up with android for a year and a half and i wont go back to that. google does not even have a fully fledged consumer desktop os other than chrome os. so i will choose windows. the ecosystem with a complete gaming experience, home entertainment, and business solutions.
