As strange as it may seem, I just about got hit in the head by a flying pig while walking across a frozen lake in hell.

Anyone have any idea what sort of lag time is normal from when an new flash install gets posted to when that software hits as an OTA? I really want this, but definitely don't want to factory reset.

no clue... it's whatever at&t is in the mood for. BUT and smart IT person would never roll an update on a friday for support reasons.... i guess at&t may roll it out tomorrow! Also, as a plus... this gets us on the correct version of 8.1 needed for the windows 10 update, according to ms :)

i'm doing a factory reset as I cheated to get to update 2, so I don't want to break anything putting the correct version on there. oh well, 30 minutes to download. lets see if my backup finishes in time, but all i really care about are txts.... and CRAP, gotta disable 2-step everywhere 1st. oh well!

Yeah, I had forgot about that. If I factory reset, I'd have to re-setup my Auth app for all my 2-factor accounts.

Also for those who have it, I'm curious what the build date is in the extras+info app. The screenshot above doesn't show far enough down. The Denim update that was just released for the Cricket 630 is 6/10/2015, so it took about 3 months from the build date to when it was released.

Reset Protection in place? Check! Surprised to see this 1st after the Windows logo at startup!
Restore from backup made using the hack to install update 2 a few pages back? Check!
Build creation date in Extras+info? 5/26/2015! They sat on it for 4 months!!!
OS version 8.10.15148.160
Firmware revision# 02179.00000.15213.43037

Will check BT performance tomorrow in the car.

Knowing I was right about the BBB complaints and the story on WPCentral about AT&T confirming no 830 update was premature? CHECK!!!
So, now we know that the BBB is a worthless place to get reliable info.

Now who's starting the "When will AT&T release the Windows 10 Update for the 830" thread?

my phone recovery tool seems stuck on the "reading phone information" screen. it's been maybe 30 mins now, is this normal? i am rolling back from the latest windows 10 preview.

So Microsoft is doing an end run around at&t. There may be hope for this platform yet. Can't wait to get home and try this. Stoopid job...

If it is their support personnel have no clue about it.

I'm still so jaded at this point I'll have to wait to see it on my 830 to believe it.

read any random post from the past 4 months and you will see that 99% of at&t support personnel have no clue what they are talking about. IF AT&T pushes this OTA, my guess it'll be within the next month or they'll bundle it with windows 10 (push this update, then windows 10 after it installs)

Still not clear. Do you have to go to 10 and roll back or just run the WPRT ?

you'll need WPRT to roll back, so yes to both?

you might want to disconnect and reconnect your device, close open the tool and if not restart your system

I'm not seeing any update. I downloaded WPRT 2.1.2, connected my phone and I see:

Phone:
Model: Lumia 830
Firmware version: 02040.00012.14404.07019

Software available on server
Firmware version: 02040.00012.14404.07019

You have the latest available software version.
