I also had the 80188306 error on my German Lumia 930 (CV). I flashed my phone with the NL CV ROM (059W1H9) using Nokia Care Suite and after that, I was able to update my phone.

I got the error multiple times on Lumia 625 which had already been updated to Cyan before Microsoft put the block on Developer Preview updating to Cyan. I rolled back to WP8 using Nokia Software Recovery Tool, OTA updated to 8.1 Cyan, installed Preview for Developers and it then worked updating to Update 1.

Lumia 620 (CV DE) on DP updated fine. Lumia 925 (32GB Vodafone) and Lumia 625 (CV FR) both with DP+Cyan fail to update with this dreaded error.

according to the answer from microsoft "Also to install new update on the phone you need at least 3GB of free space on your phone, your battery have to be more then 50% full as well."

but that's because if you don't have enough space you can't download the update. Once you have downloaded the telephone should install it. This is a problem of MS

Why the bloody Hell those who write the code for the error numbers to appear doesnt provide an info on some website about these error codes and the meaning they have? e.x. error code 80xxx : not available free space, error 82xxx : check internet connection...etc.

Update is currently installing fine on Huawei Ascend W1-U00 (O2-UK).

I think reverting back to Lumia black might be the solution..may be.

Most of us with Black are having this issue, so I doubt that will help. Reverting back to WP8 with hard reset, and then installing this update with Developer Preview seems to solve this for some. I am going to wait for MS to fix this update, as a hard reset and WP8 revert is not something I want to do just for this update.

I had the same issue and now I was able to download the update!

After 4 failed attempts, (downlading complete, went to cogs screen and restarted after a few seconds) I've made a soft reset, restored my apps an my online backup and then at the first attempt everything worked as it should and updated correctly. Lumia 820 GB CV.
